Hey everyone.

My name is Alex and have just become a very proud and happy daddy.

Im sure this topic has been chewed to death and i'm sorry, but I'm really needing some pointers. I'm looking for some extra work, or start a business, at home to supplement my other job. I really don't want a second job as id love to work at home and to be around my family.

I'm a diesel mechanic by trade, which I love and won't give up. I love computers, building, repairing and using. Im good with typing skills etc. Pretty much I like fixing and building stuff. Ive seen a few "offers" on here I like, and many more I don't. I'm NOT looking for any MLM stuff, dont want to sell health products, tried herbalife and that was a waste. Im not looking for any get rich quick stuff. I dont really like selling to people. I dont NEED anything extra to pay bills, I'm just looking for a bit of extra spending cash to spoil baby and my wife.

If anyone can point me in the right direction as a reliable source to talk or email then i'd be most grateful.

I apologise again for bringing up a re occuring topic.

Thank you all.

Welcome Alex and Congratulations on the new baby! Did you have a boy or girl?

How about offering computer repair services. My husband used to do that when we got married and he did really well with it. To get the word out, go to businesses, leave some flyers and business cards. Talk to the employees and give them your info. We had a man who was just starting out do that in our office. Someone was having trouble with his laptop so he gave the man a call. He did a great job, word spread and now he's doing very well. We all have laptops so he takes it home with him and does the work at home! He does have to work out of the home too though...my brokers hired him to maintain the office computers but he comes in whenever he wants.

Congratulations Alex! I don't blame you for wanting to spend as much time as possible with your family. That's what brought many, if not most, of us home.

When you explore WAHM you'll discover many options to earn $$ at home to supplement your income. Since you're not looking for a full-time biz, it'll make it a little easier.

No matter how great I think my company is, it doesn't mean you'd enjoy it. Because we are all so different, different skills, talents, likes and dislikes, there is no position perfect for everyone.

Take your time to really read over the various forums on this site. There is a wide array of ways to supplement your income. Once you find something that appeals to you, really research the company, using third-party sources in addition to the company's own sites. You want to know what others outside the company think about them. Be careful though, because some people get into a business, don't really work it, so they fail, and then they'll post negatively about the company.

I wish you every success, whatever direction you go.

Hi Alex!

Congrats on your new baby. There are a few things that you can actually do to make extra money from home so that you would be able to stay at home with your family. I noticed that you said that you're good with computers, you can offers your services online on Craigslist and Peoplestox to help you get some business. You also stated that you have pretty good typing skills so maybe a data entry job online might be a good match for you. Some companies such as Dion Data Solutions, Tigerfish (Transcription), and Reserve America recruit individuals to perform data entry tasks online. You should check into these companies for potential online job opportunities.

Congrats on the new baby! The only thing bad about kids is that the cute little precious you are holding now eventually grows up, talks back to you, asks for money every chance they get and eventually get mad when you don't hand over the keys to your new Lexus...Can you tell I have teenagers? All kidding aside - kids are great. I have two teenage boys and a 4 yr old girl - love them all and wouldn't change anything :)

Unless you want some porn addict calling you at 2 in the morning because his favorite site crashed his computer, I would suggest staying away from fixing computers out of the house, lol

There are so many opportunities available online - it really is a matter of what do you like to do?
Maybe a blog about diesel mechanics would fit the bill? Talk about how your latest customer through a rod through their oil pan? This may not be the best income, but if you start a community around it or find a way to monetize it, there are opportunities everywhere.

My suggestion to those I have coached in the past is always start with your hobbies, what you are good at, and what you enjoy. Brainstorm ways to turn it into a viable business model, and go with it. As long as you are enjoying what you are doing, it will never feel like work :)
