I was trying to think up good uses for our candle jars once they're empty and I came up with a great idea to use them to hold scent samples attached to biz cards. I'm going to put a label on the jar that says Free Sample Take One and put that on the counter at the hair salon, bank and all those places.

So just wondering, what do you all do with your empty jars?

GREAT idea Olivia, I love it!

I use them as apothecary jars in my house- for cotton balls, q-tips, etc. in
my bathroom, candy jar in the kitchen. (Have to soak with vinegar and
then
run through the dishwasher to remove ALL scent or you will get transfer
to
food!)

I've been saving them thinking they would be cute for other ideas as I
come
up with them eventually, so this is a terrific post- I can't wait to see what
everyone else has come up with!

Olivia- how are things going with your cute display in that store? I want
an update! smileys/smiley17.gif

Oh, that's a good idea too! I need a cotton ball holder. Now I have a good excuse to burn more candles~ I need the jars!

I think your thinking of Naturalmiabella's cute display in the antique store. My dad has an antique store, but doesn't want my candles, he'd rather have icky paraffin ones. Oh well, too bad for him, right?!smileys/smiley36.gif

Fill with potpourie (sp?) or bath beads, tie a ribbon around the neck and sell them at booths smileys/smiley1.gif

I like the business card/scent sample idea too - or use as the candle drawing basket.

Thanks Kitt about the vinegar and dishwasher tip - I could never get the scent to go away after washing them. - Just goes to show how good our candles keep smelling, even after they have disappeared completely! smileys/smiley2.gifEdited by: lovethiscandle

I love the idea about using the jars as a container for Free Samples! Thanks for sharing it!

(I haven't burned one of my jars yet--saving those for paying customers, lol. I just burn votives right now.) smileys/smiley36.gif

I love the free scent sample idea!

I am using plain business card holders, but the jars would look much better.

I guess I'd better burn more jars! smileys/smiley2.gif

I haven't tried it yet but I read somewhere about filling the jar half way with sand and places a votive in a holder in the middle and placing shells, rocks, or sea glass around the votive. I believe it is called relax with wax. These could be sold or given out as gifts. I'm going to make some as soon as I get empty. I think they would look get in a bathroom.

Oh gosh...I guess I am not very creative. I have so much STUFF sitting around my house and so many candles and votives...when I am done burning mine I scoop out the wax and save it if I'm feeling ambitious, and then I throw mine in the TRASH! smileys/smiley36.gif

I throw mine in the TRASH!

Yikes - I bet there's a bunch of people on here who would like your empty jars - or there's always www.freecycle.org (http://www.freecycle.org)!

Well actually it is the recycling bin. At least I do that! LOL

Maybe I will start stashing them in the garageand see what I can do with them. At least they are easy to wash out; that's a plus!
