I need help! I just started with Taste of Home Entertaining. I want to get the word out around town. What are things that you all who are successful in the home party plans do to get parties and to get the word out? I think if I could just get oneor two parties booked in the neighborhood, then it would take off from there. Anyone ever done the door-to-door thing? Our neighborhood won't allow soliciting, so I'm trying to find a way around that as well.

Thanks!

Have an Open House. See if you can schedule it as a local business. That way there is more room. Not only do you get people coming to see your products, that business you set up at would also benefit by getting people in the door.

Make invitation flyersfor your Open House. Take them to daycares to go home with the kids. Take them to schjools so they can put them in the teachers mailboxes. Take them to health clubs, etc etc.

I responded to your in the biz folder. But I agree and open house is a great place to start. Be sure to invite everyone and do an incentive for bringinga friend or 2 or 3.

Charlee,

Have you ever done that before? Dropping flyers off at schools and daycares? If so, how receptive were they of this? Also, what do you mean set up as a local business... do you mean do things that a local biz would do to get people in the door? I wonder if by going by the daycare, I can offer a free product for then passing out my flyers. Hmmm...

How about just hosting your own party? Pretend you are the host AND the consultant. Make a list, personally invite, then call everyone you invited to remind them...basically hostess coach yourself.

Be excited! Tell EVERYONE!

Best wished on your new biz!

Claire,

You might also consider contacting yourChamber of Commerce. Their job is to promote local businesses.

Silent advertising is also a simple thing, but can be effective. For example- wear a company shirt, or button, or your name tag wherever you go. They also make "photo totes" that have clear outside pockets- put a magazine in the big pocket on one side- on the other, maybe some pictures of the best sellers. (you could also put some photos of your family...lol)

Lettering for your car (do the windows, not the car itself) tear-off flyers in grocery stores, make sure to have business cards and hand them out! (but not in an obnoxious waysmileys/smiley36.gif) Mention you reward referalls, if someone books or signs up.

Those are some off the top of my head....

Best wishes to you!

There are coffee shops and banks in my area that have meeting rooms available for a very small fee. It would be worth it to get the extra space. Schools are very receptive (at least in my area) at putting flyers in the Teacher mailboxes. I would offer a discovunt for the Teachers though...as an extra incentive to get them out there.

If your allowed to set up at a flea market...that might help generate customers too!
