Hey guys! I am new here. I have been sitting back in the shadows basically just reading what everyone else has written to gain some insight on the best choices. I particularly loved the threads that contained the people that have actual experience within the different companies. With that being said, I see a lot of people writing in but it takes you page after page of reading and my basic question never seems to be answered... what is the pay like? I know that there are a few companies where it is listed right on the site itself but I would love to gain some insider knowledge from you guys that are actually experiencing it. So which companies do you guys work for (*or have previously worked for*) that you would recommend and what is the pay like? And also, what were your start up costs (*like head sets, etc*) Thanks for your time guys!!

Just as in the B&M world, salaries is something that not everyone is willing or able to discuss. It also varies depending on job, education, and experience. Generally speaking CSR jobs range from $9-$12, Inbound sales around the same but many different commission structures. Team leads/managers $15-$20. Technical $15 & up. VA's & bookkeepers $15 - 20, Recruiters $15 (some are commission based). Search Engine Evaluators $13 - $20. When I started out I purchased a Plantronics T-10 headset for about $25. That was my only startup expense. Sometimes you may just have to apply to a job without knowing the salary. In the past I've worked for Alpine and WFL, currently I work for a local company and LF. I would recommend them all. Hope this gives you some guidance. Best wishes.

Hi Kristi,

You should also check out the results from the "hourly wage poll" here (http://www.wahm.com/forum/telecommuting-moms-34/572754-hourly-wage-poll.html) in the forum. Many ladies were gracious to take the time to participate so that we can have an insight on what people are actually getting paid.

Just to mention, the starting pay can vary depending on experience. And some companies may have different jobs available that pay at different levels.

Thats great help ladies. Thanks!! I was just curious because if there are jobs out there, that are hiring, and are better than others, I would rather bust my butt to get one of those than go with a lower paying company just because I didnt take the time to at least ask! Thanks for all the advice!

I would agree for the most part with Helena's assessment. Also, while I can say I love all the companies I have worked for, it is sometimes more about what is a good fit for your family and your schedule rather than if it is a good company. I have had to switch jobs several times because of the schedule no longer working for my family. Sometimes even if it is a good company it may be either too much work or not enough or too strict of a schedule without enough flexibility, etc. I have worked for Alpine Access, ACD Direct, ETS, LiveOps, Leapforce, Demand Studios, Internet Brands, Examiner, and now I work in social media. Also, consider that when you are first looking for a work from home job you may have to take something that is not ideal or not high paying to get that experience and use it to build up to other things eventually. Good luck!
