View Full Version : Im at a loss

I must admit. I am at a loss with this whole thing. I love Mia Bella. I love the candles and I love the company. But I will admit I have a hard time retailing. I have recrutied one person and I am on my way to recruting two more and I have also recruited a associate.

I am just unsure about where to go now. I will admit that I am lazy and I don't like to follow through with things like calling people to host parties and things like that.

I am looking into areas of retailing that would work for me. I went to a flea market today with minimal luck but I thought about trying it somewhere else. I also called and I am going to set up at a fair in my local area. I remember on the newsletter this month that someone had set up a shop in her garage which is actually an option for me cause we have a garage that my dh was going to tear down cause he is building a new one. I live in a small town though and I was wondering how this would work out. I also wonder what kind of insurance I would need and things like that. Anyone have any luck with a Mia Bella store? What way would go to retail (other than call people and have parties)

I guess I am looking for a way to get people to come to me rather than go out and get individuals.

I want this to work I am just not sure the direction to take.

Also, besides sandy anyone have any luck with flea markets and if you did why do you think it was a success?Edited by: pookeybearsmom

Heather-

Success comes from within, first!

Sounds like a good place for you to start might be with some self
motivation. I've never heard of a successful, lazy business entrepreneur!

Some excellent starting points for you would be:

-The Secret of the Millionaire Mind -T. Harv Eker

-Attractor Factor -Joe Vitole

-Anything by Zig Zigler

Good luck and keep at it. Find your motivation and you'll find that things
will instantly begin to pick up for you.

Kitt,

I know you are right. I really need to work on that aspect of my personality. I guess what I am also saying though, more than being lazy about this (I am a really hard worker usually but I have been pulled in alot of directions at once lately and I have slacked off.)

is Ineed more than consitistancy, thats why I thought of the flea markets cause they are every weekend and it would be alot of people that I wouldn't have to drum up my own traffic. KWIM?

Plus, it would be a way week after week to keep at it. But the reason I say I am "lazy" is because I don't want to have to always being going "out there" to get more people or constantly coming up wiht a new plan. I want to find the plan that works for me and then stick with it. Does that make sense?

I understand what you are saying Heather, and I've been there!

But honestly, once you get some training, and have a system in place, it
really doesn't feel like "work", and it is actually a lot fo fun meeting and
talking to new people! It seems now that I never have ENOUGH time to
devote to that aspect of my business, and I am fortunate to be able to do
this all from the comfort of my home (or wherever I happen to be!) with a
cell phone and m ywireless laptop. -One of the biggest things I love
about my Mia Bella business!

The other great thing about focusing on the Residual Income aspect of
our business is that you can get paid over and over again just by doing
something *once*. You sponsor that one person onto your team, and for
as long as you continue to be an active COTM member, you continue to
earn passive income on that person's sales activity forever. It's an
amazing way to build large weath!

Work with your sponsor to establish some training resources- there are
great free telephone training and recorded training services available
online as well as within our company and among our teams. Utilize
those, even if it is just one call each week.

Create an action plan. You don't have to do a LOT, just one or two daily
actions EVERY DAY will pay off tremendously and provide much more
success than large bursts of inconsistent effort every few weeks.

Ask your Sponsor to hold accountability email or phone meetings with
you each week- just a quick check in to talk about what your goals are for
the week and for each day and how you followed through last week.

Find a self improvement book that "speaks" to you and read 5-10 pages
every morning (or every night- some time that you can set aside each
day.)

Put those simple steps in effect and do them FAITHFULLY, and your
business will grow, a LOT!

Wishing you success and happiness in business and in life,

Thank You for the response. I am getting there on the recruiting. I know I still have a LONG way to go on that aspect. One of my concerns however is that I don't have alot of money but do have a lot of inventory and I need less inventory and more money!LOL!

Thats one reason I was loking into the sales.

How many recruits would you say that someone could get off the web every month?

Hey -

Just wanted to butt in here real quick! smileys/smiley2.gif

I dont think there are a certain number of recruits a person can get off the web each month. Its all about where you advertise, how you go about your follow-up, and if any one particular person is ready to join. I get tons of prospects each month - but that doesnt mean I have tons of new sign-ups. I dont. BUT, they are people who may join down the road, or who may never join. And, the better you get at perfecting your follow-through, your "closing the deal" methods, and just creating that necessary "relationship" - the more people who will start to join your team.

Good points, Shira!

I also think it depends on your techniques. Some people advertise online
like crazy, get tons of leads, but never follow through with a phone call.
My personal approach is that the best way to connect with someone and
make a new business partner is to meet face to face or by telephone. If
you're not comfortable with making calls and talking to people, start
practicing!

Again, this is where training is crucial!

I think it is possible with the appropriate amount of investment funds and
training/technique to recruit an average number of people each month
online. Point in case, take a look at the company newsletters for the last
6 months. The same people are almost always in the same top positions
as sponsor monsters every month. They have a system in place that
works, and provides dependable results week after week, month after
month.

Keep watching, I'll be there soon, too!smileys/smiley2.gif

And so will Shira! smileys/smiley17.gif

How about you? smileys/smiley17.gif

Hi Heather!smileys/smiley17.gif

I would set a time to work with your sponsor!

Listen to a lot of calls. They are FABULOUS in Mia Bella! Listen to live ones and the recorded ones on the Message Board of your back office.

Did you print out your Roadmap to Success in your back office? It's excellent, with a lot of great info. There is a Partnership Agreement there that you should fill in and then go over with your sponsor. It will help you create your mission andmake your goals.

Find a way that's fun for you to build this.

Read books about what successful peopleand above all, work on yourself. There are a lot of wonderful books, tapes and trainings to help you find your strengths and change your paradigms enabling you to create and lead a Scent-Sational Team!

Realize what you have your hands on. smileys/smiley32.gif

This is BIG!!

Hey SHIRA!smileys/smiley4.gif

This month I've been focusing on working with my team and their teams, three way calls, putting programs together, brainstorming, etc. So I don't think that I will be one of the Top Ten Sponsor Monsters!smileys/smiley36.gif

But I've had one of the most fascinating months in Mia Bella working with the most incredible women I've sponsored and super women they've sponsored.... WOW!

Heather,

Let me put my 2 cents in here. You are looking at sales like it is a Separate function. Sales should be a Part of your normal activities. You go to the grocery store, hand the checkers some brochures and samples. You go get your hair cut, give the lady a brochure and a Votive with her tip. you go to the bank, the dry cleaners, to a resturant, all of which are extensions of your day and are excellent places to sell your product. As you are talking to these people, ask them about their business and their day and it opens the door for you to talk about your fabulous day and how cool it is to be able to work at home by selling Candles! Bang, they you go!

Don't make it harder than it is. Sales has nothing to do with being lazy. heck, this is a perfect job for someone too lazy coz you can do it as you do other things! Multi-task Baby! and you have it made!

Good Luck!

Chris

>>>You are looking at sales like it is a Separate function.<<<

Hi, Chris...What a valuable piece of information you just gave right
here! I've never thought of it that way, but you are exactly right and
I think that's been part of *my* problem too!

I can identify a lot with what Heather was saying in her post because I
struggle with some of the same things. Though if I am an employee in a
retail setting somewhere, I've always been able to gently upsell, it is
very difficult for me to approach someone right out of the blue, even
when I have a product as great as our candles are to offer.

I don't want to hijack your thread, Heather, so I won't go on, but just
wanted to thank Chris for giving me something to examine about my
methods too.

By the way, Heather, I'm thinking about creating a tiny shop for my
candles down in our partially finished basement. I'm with you--it's
much easier to have someone come to me than for me to go to them.

I wish you much success in whatever you decide to do in your selling!

Hi Heather! Have you thought about trying fundraisers yet? ONE of the junior high students in my first fundraiser sold about 40 candles!!

I'll be giving the PTA my distributor labels to place onto each of the candles!I'msure some of thefundraiser customers willcome to me or my website now when they fall in love with the Mia Bella candles that they ordered! I'd be happy if just 1 or2of those customers joined the Candle of the Month Club!!

And it only took a few days of my time! Talking to the PTA President and Vice President.Giving them the fundraiser info.Printing the fundraiser order forms, labels for the fundraiser envelopes, the fundraising letter, etc. The students did all the selling!

Try it! I'm sure you'll love it too!

;) Jenny
