Sorry for posting this here, but I believe it deserves as much attention as possible as the News isn't doing a very good job of the importance of the coverage. Yesterday, all across the Southern United States there were a series of storms that were very rare and deadly. Birmingham, Alabama alone experienced a 1.5 mile wide F5 tornado. Multiple serious tornadoes were recorded across the states. 10's of thousands of homes have been lost, and at least 170 fatalities in Alabama alone have been reported. Fatalities were also reported in Tennessee, Georgia, and Mississippi to name a few. So many lives have been lost and destroyed, and I for one feel it is important to reach out in this time of need.
Perhaps I feel more obligated since I once lived in the South and many of my friends live there, but I know more people are going to want to help. You can donate money through the American Red Cross, or do what I am doing. I will be going to the store today and buying lots of clothes for victims. Baby clothes, children's clothes, etc.
Since the Red Cross does not accept clothing I will be sending them to my best friend in Alabama and she will take them to the donation site. Any clothes you have sitting around that aren't of use anymore, please consider donating them. If you are interested please let me know and PM me; I will tell you where to send the clothes. Thank you all, and please keep all of the residents of the South in your prayers.

Hi,
I think this is a wonderful thing you are doing. I am planning on cleaning out my closets this weekend and I am sure I can find some things for this good cause. I have been feeling awful for these people that have lost so much. I will also let my family and friends know about this and I am sure I can get some things. It is very nice of you to do this.
Kathy

Thanks for sharing. They are all in my thoughts and prayers. Just makes us realize how blessed we are. I will search for some clothes and items they could use. God Bless you for caring and making an effort to reach out to help others.

Another great place to donate is Samaritan's Purse. They already have trucks arriving in Alabama and other states. Visit this link to read about what they are doing and to make a donation:

Samaritan's Purse is one of those organizations which seem to always be prepared to roll out with help when a disaster occurs.
