Hi ladies, my new recruit just told me last night that she also just signed up with Mary Kay. I wasn’t sure if there was a rule about only being with one direct sales company or not? Does anyone know? Thanks!

I know there is another consultant on this board who is also a MK consultant. I will contact my Director because I can't find any info on this in the consultant guide. Maybe I am just missing it.

I remember my Director mentioning something about this. If I remember correctly she said that as long as they are not a Director (manager, etc) with the other company then it is ok for them to sign up.
Sorry, I know I'm not much help!

Mistie,
I know when you become a Director, you cannot have another business. Not even for personal use. It is only fair that you give your full attention to your team's personal growth and your personal business. I am a great customer for quite a few businesses!
What I want to find out is if we have a no compete clause. I don't think so, but want the official word on it.

I don't understand the logic of representing two cosmetic/skin care
companies. Would someone explain why one would want to do this? It
seems like a total conflict of interest. Using some products from a
different line seems ok, but to actually promote both companies sounds
weird to me.smileys/smiley5.gif
I understand that Mary Kay promotes the skin care class and
BeautiControl promotes the Spa Escape, but you are competing for the
same clientale. Anyone else feel this way or is it just me?

I don't quite understand it either. But then again, I only have one company at a time!
We also promote skin care anddemonstrate it at our spa parties. We have a lot of anti-aging products!
It is interesting! As long as you are not a Director, you can have more than one business. Still waiting for my Director to email me if we have a no compete clause. It wasn't obvious when I looked thru the consultant agreement or guide.

I don't remember if Mary Kay has a non-compete clause either, but if
you just use simple logic and common sense, representing two companies
with the same types of products (skin care, anti-aging, color
cosmetics, body and bath etc) is a definite conflict. You aren't doing
either business justice. Persoanlly, I would not recruit someone from
another company UNLESS, they were looking to change their company not
do them side -by- side. Then again, if you recruit someone first
and then they join another company what can you do?

This is exactly what I asked her. I was like why would you want to do both? Why wouldn’t you just do one? I would think that it would make her clients wonder why she’s representing 2 companies. I fell in love with Beauti Control and wouldn’t consider being apart of any other company. She said that she’s just trying to find the right "fit" for her. She’s a personal friend of mine so I even asked her why she wouldn’t try one for like a year and then if she didn’t like it to try another instead of spending money she doesn’t have right now on both. She said she wanted to do it to help out with school like I am and now she’s purchased a lot of stuff and what if she doesn’t like it? I don’t think that’s very wise financially, especially when the Mary Kay lady told her she had to do a $1,000. There’s no sense in putting your time and money into something you don’t believe in. I was really frustrated when she told me she signed up with May Kay. Guess some people just have to "try" everything! I’m still not sure what her intentions are but oh well all I can do is do my best and help her see that Beauti Control is a great company and can offer her everything she wants! Wish me luck!

Wow, that is just plain weird! She signed up with MK before she
attended BeautiU? I hope she doesn't fall for the "you need
inventory in order to succeed" thing that some</span>
of the MK directors do. Too bad she couldn't just try BC for awhile and
then if it wasn't her thing, try MK like you suggested. She is
going to find out quickly that she will not be able to do both
successfully. When that happens I hope she chooses to focus on
BeautiControl, for both of your sakes!smileys/smiley32.gif

I thought that was totally weird too! And she did fall for the you need a room full of inventory scam! At the time she signed up with me she said that she couldn’t place her qualifying order and I told her that it was ok, she could wait but that she wouldn’t get the 55% discount. So when she was ready to order some stuff she let me know and we order her a few basics that my director had me order. I don’t think she’s going to do too well either with trying to sell both but its her choice. Her BeautiU training was going to have to be in June because she had something going on the day that they had it in May and she didn’t want to drive 20 min to the other location. But now she’s going to be able to go to the BeautiU in may thankfully and I hope that she stays with Beauti Control after that. I think after she has her training she will really see everything we have to offer. She just got her 1st shipment yesterday and call me saying she was sooo excited about it. I'll keep you guys up-dated though. Hope everyone's having a great weekend!!!
