Hey Ladies!
I suddenly found myself needing over 1200 scent samples and figured out how to do it extremely inexpensively.
I make business cards from the pre-printed business cards available at Staples or other office supply store. I print my info on the front and the scent name on the back.
Then I melt a votive in a double-boiler and dip just the end of each card. Then place them on clean, flat paper to dry.
They turned out GREAT and smell wonderful.
AND I am making 300+ cards from each votive.

How do you get it to stick, though? I've tried that and the wax peels off.

Even if the wax falls off the scent should still be on the cardsmileys/smiley2.gif

I'm also curious. Does the wax fall off of the cards. I've tried it with brochures and it came off.
Since you're so smart "MissScent-SationalHeloise," any suggestions?smileys/smiley2.gifsmileys/smiley2.gif

I made another 450 scented cards tonite and 500 yesterday. All with 2 1/2 votives. My house smells wonderful with the SO&CP melting on the stove!smileys/smiley1.gif
I haven't had any troubles with the wax not sticking. I think it's because I use non-glossy cards. The ones I'm working on right now are cards from VistaPrint. The have the option of adding a glossy finish for an additional cost. Although the glossy finish looks nice, I won't get that option when dipping the cards.
The brochures are also glossy - so I can see the wax not sticking.
Stick to plain heavy card paper for the best results.
Blessings,
Vicki

Oh, I have glossy, that must be why it kinda clumps up and looks like it was sitting in something icki - lol. I will have to print up some cards on card stock that I have left over and try that. smileys/smiley1.gif

Hello Fellow Candle Lovers!
Here's a tip for you!
Put your business cardsin a biz zip lock bag with several votives - (toss them in loose not stacked) the cards will absorb the fragrance in a matter of days! I also put my brochures between my votive boxes and get the same effect!
Havea Scent Sational Day!

I tried putting my cards in a ziploc with Coconut Macaroon, but I didn't get much scent at all. Maybe it was just because CM is a lighter scent.
I'll try that again with a heavier scent like SO&CP.

Vicki

You are more than welcome Heather. That was my whole point of posting here - to get our scents out there! smileys/smiley2.gif
I have an aquaintance who owns a tanning salon. I asked her if I could leave a basketful of scent samples attached to business cards on her counter and she was kind enough to say yes. I left about 25 samples and went back 10 days later to see if they needed more. The receptionist was on the phone so I looked around on the counter to find my basket and couldn't see it. Disappointed!
When the receptionist finished on the phone, I explained who I was and asked what had happened to the scent samples. She brought up an empty basket from behind the counter and said "they went immediately!. Like - I'm talking the first day!"
Then she asked "what are they anyways? Do we add them to our bath?!?" NOOOOO! smileys/smiley36.gif
Well I just happened to have a bunch more scent samples on me to replenish the supply and I explained to her what they are.
Now it's occured to me - unless I have a place on my business card explaining what they can do with the sample (diffuser, potpurri pot, car freshener), how could anyone really know what to do with them??I have the name of the scent on the card, but there's really no room to add the uses. The basket really isn't large enough to put a sign on, and any larger could intrude on their counter space.
So I think I could probably get just as much interest using the scented business cards as I do from the scent samples - but there will be room to stock much more in the basket, and the expense would be much much less. And my cardalready reads"sweet orange & chili pepper scent sample" so there could be no confusion.
And nobody would complain to me about a waxy bath tub! smileys/smiley36.gifsmileys/smiley36.gif
Blessings,
Vicki

On my little scent sample bags I put a label that says the name of the scent, scent sample, add to potpourri warmer, drawer or vacuum up.
I used to leave out the words scent sample, but some people didn't realize it was a crushed candle, so now I get less questions on that!

Perhaps the words "crushed votive sample - sweet orange & chili pepper" on the attached label.
Do you thing that's clear enough?
Boy - even that will require a larger label!
Can't wait for Black Cherry - it will take up so much less space on a label! smileys/smiley2.gif
