View Full Version : Recruiting wording

OK, I want to discuss.

Someone somewhere is a fabulous recruiter making tons of money. How does she do it, wording. I have an opinion on this that I don't want to share, but want to hear what you say, before I give my opinion.

How do these words feel to you:

"I am looking to expand into your area and need someone to head up a division who is interested in making $60,000 to $100,000 per year working from home. Do you know anyone who is interested?"

Note: let's say they do understand it is a business.

Discussion.

If there was a website that I could go to and find out detailed info, then I might bite. I wouldn't call to hear a sales pitch though.

I'd probably think about it in th e back of mind for a couple of days, and then realize it is easy too good to be true or involves way more time /money than I am willing to invest.

I think that a stay-at-home mom like myself would find that to sound very unrealistic. Maybe a business/career person would be more attracted to that wording. I think it would depend on the person hearing it.

Like Cindy said, I might research on my own through a website or recorded call but not want to hear a high pressure sales pitch one on one.

I would think "Scam" and move on. I basically ignore anything that appears to focus on money over product/service.

You haven't given much info, but I will also say this: I do not
personally believe in recruiting someone under false or inflated
pretenses. Sure, you could make a few $$ from them, but I don't
want to waste my time training/supporting someone who isn't prepared to
work for their money.

Anyone done the Myers-Briggs assessment? I am an INFP and that is
a very typical response for my personality type - perceived integrity
is extremely important. =}

I would think scam! Like a previous post mentioned, any ad that promises that much money and does not mentionthe product/service I would stay away from!

I agree, but I didn't want to say anything. I was listening to the audios from someone highly recommended, and we she said this my mouth just about hit the floor.

I would never feel right with smoke screens and mirrors. People need to understand it is possible, but you got to work for it and it's work, even if it is fun.

Any other thoughts?

Is the person you were listening to involved in Direct Sales or MLM? I think there is a HUGE difference in the way the training, methods, etc are done. I'mnot saying that either one is right or either one is better than the other at all...I'm just stating my opinion on something I have noticed. I think that DS is much more product driven, where MLM is more recruiting and money driven. You get certain types of people with each different type of business. The people who are involved with MLM seem to be driven by numbers and money (which ISN'T a bad thing!) so you're training is going to include statements like that because that's what they want to hear. However, if you approach someone who is looking at selling a product first, money coming second...then that statement may scare them off. They are automatically going to think, "no way, that can't be done!".

Bottom line, money can be made in both ventures. Both are great for different reasons and it's definitely a personal choice...neither one being better than the other, just different.

If someone approached me with that statement, I think I'd be hesitant to look into it. Seems too easy. I'd do some research on the particular company and see what info I could come up with on my own about it.

Debbie, you should post this up in the Network Marketing folder and see the response you get. I can bet you that it would be a completely different response than what you get here. smileys/smiley2.gif

i agree 100%. There are sooo many differences, even in the type of people they attract. And the more I listen, the more I realize this.

I'm too scared to post it up on their board. They'd beat me up for having an opinion.smileys/smiley18.gif

I already got into it with them that there are more important things then making money, like integrity and happiness. It doesn't matter to them that I'm making money because it's not $100k a year.smileys/smiley5.gif

You can't change others, you can only change yourself.

I've learned that success comes from helping others. Be it helping them in their decision to purchsae, shop for free, or find a business of their own. When you put their needs first, you are rewarded.

LOL!

Would you rather run a business as a bully or a partner?

I love this board and all the people! It's great we have the same values, and our families come first. smileys/smiley32.gif

I think that is a great topic Deb! I would also think scam first. I think that women tend to think that way versus men. Men might fall for such a cheap line, lol.
I think the real issue is that most of the people that I bring into my business do not come into the business to make $100K. Most of them want and extra $100-$200 a week, and that is as far as they can think initially.
I do believe that it would scare off a majority of women to use such a line as that. I also agree with the integrity part of it. Not only would I think scam, I would probably challenge it by asking what percentage of the people are making that much. I never noticed that there is such a difference between MLM and direct sales, but after being on this board, I do see a difference in the focus and the message. Thanks!

Now this is just my opinion. LOL For those involved in MLM. But I was in party plan and then went to MLM and went right back to party plan. It scared me!smileys/smiley18.gif Yes I understand they are TOTALLY different. I felt that I was lying to people. That ad you wrote Deb is something they would have offered in that MLM company I was in! smileys/smiley11.gif

My ad would read, My company is currently looking for a rep in your area, as their is business there to be done.

Something along that line. The reason I know this is I have been traveling to parties and I mean Traveling. I need help in that area LOLsmileys/smiley9.gif

I don't think any $ amount should be brought up in an ad unless you are selling puppies or something. LOL smileys/smiley36.gif
