I am a new consultant, stalled out, all warm and cold calls are deadends. Everyone in South Dakota seems to have been approached. I read the post on SIlent Auctions and have decided to take the leap adn give it a shot. I have quite a few RE9 kits and am going to donate one to a silent auction here. My question is what would you include besides the instructions as far as extra "info." I will include several business cards, but how much other stuff should I really include. thanks

I am going to provide a catalog and a thank-you letter which will also include a little info about the exciting new launch products and my website info.

What about putting the catalog, letter, and a couple of other things into a nice folder? I just thought of that. I havea few of those beautiful green folders from Ar****. Since I am giving a gift certificate, I will put that in the folder as well.

If you do a monthly email with specials etc, you might want to mention that in the letter. I am starting mine next month and plan to do a little subscriber raffle each month to keep subscribers and grow my list.

Everyone in SD seems to have been approached? I think there are probably a lot that haven't....there are only 49 DM's. I wish I could get in there!

I know there are only a handful of DM in South Dakota but in my local area of Sioux Falls and Brandon, it seems like everyone that I know and have contacted have already been contacted and are sick and tired of hearing about Arbonne. My sponso is very pushy overly gushy about the products and that is turning people away. I have been contacting people without telling her because she thinks it is her responsibility to followup with them also and with her salesman's pitch, it ruins things. I have talked to her about it but she says you have to show how excited you are about the products. I told her that her approach is almost too enthusiastic. Anyway, i hope to get some contacts at the silent auction and hopefully sometime soon things wil turn around.

I have done 3 silent auctions so far and I have always used a product. I can't say that they have been super successful for me, yet. However I did have 3 different friends later call and order that same product (salt scrub) that I had at the auction. Yes, all 3 knew prior what I was doing business wise but none of them expressed any interest (didn't even rsvp for my launch), so I have to think that just getting my name out there in a non threatening environment (I wasn't even at the events) is a win win. I have not gotten any business, yet, from people I didn't already know from the auctions.

As for what I used, I had bought a couple extra salt scrubs when they were the pwp in Feb. so they costs me 10.50 - that's very reasonable advertising if you ask me, plus its a win, win - raise $ for a great cause as well. I submitted the actual retail value to the auction and I think they all went for about $25. Don't forget to get a tax receipt for the auction donation if its a non-profitand save it for your taxes next year. At the event I put business cards, made up a flyer about the product (pretty much wrote the description from the catalog) with a line at the bottom that was a little teaser about the business. I also put out 2 Arbonne now books. Don't put a ton out because chances are if there's any left you won't get them back. I have not gotten any calls yet about the business so not sure how worth it that was or not. Not all auctions will let you put out stuff.

One of my goodfriend's is organizing one in May that is huge and I am going to put a bigger item in it, or maybe several smaller items, Ihaven't decided yet....If you don't have any regular extra product around, do you have some basics? Yes we only paid $5 each for them, but if you group them in a basket, that's a much higher value basket when you're done to raise more $ for them....

As far as the silent auctions are concerned....

My experience has been that people who already use Arbonne will probably "bid" on the product. Then, they end up winning it and you later find out that they already have a consultant. I hate to sound negative, but most people will only purchase skin care that they have been "sold" on or tried before.

Again, this is just my experience.

I agree with you about the actual bidders &winner. But if other people walk by and take a card, its a cheap way to advertise and its all a good cause. I think so much of this is justgetting your name out. In any case, its giving back to the community in a way you can afford when your business is just starting so that alone is nice.

thanks for all the pointers. the gal at the radio station told me to bring a good supply of business cards and flyers in addition to the product for auction. I am basically just looking to get my name out there associated with Arbonne. Maybe a week or month or so down the road they will hear Arbonne again and remember me. Bottom line though the auction is for a young boy with cancer and we are raising money. Makes my heart feel good that I could donate something.
