Hello everyone!
here i am with another tricky question. i asked before if anyone had tried the dani johnson training in their direct sales busieness, and if it gave you any ANY results, increase etc. no answers to that yet though.
so out on a whimp! i cashed my airmiles, my savings and booke dmyself for minneapolis!!! smileys/smiley5.gifwhy? i have no idea. all i now is that i have to go. of course this was after much deliberation. i got her CD's and i am really extremely impressed so far.
however, i was just talking to someone that is plugged into dani's coaching and is making 6 fig income, she was trying to recruit me into her bisness. she thought i was a "sister in Christ" then, i mentioned to her how i don't mix religion and business ( her business does that) and she said: " well, how long have you been listening to dani's training?" two weeks i said. anyway, i don't think she liked my statement about not mixing religion with business. i understand that dani johnson is christian and she does her training and work inspired and based on her christian beliefs. But now i am kindof getting nervous about wheather i booked myself for a two night christian conversion session, or a real BUSINESS and LIFE changing event.??!!!
any help woudl be appreciated ! and please, i don't want this to turn into a religious debate. just stick to the topic thank you

I listened to some of her recordings after your last post, and though she says a lot of things, she also says some things I personally would never repeat.
The more I thought about it, the more I realized how different MLM and Direct Sales is.
MLM is more focused on the money, vs. the product. Many offer autoships, so once you recruit someone you are making money off them right away.
Direct Sales focuses on product. You sell something, make money. When you recruit, you need to help your recruit succeed to earn an income from their sales.
I'll PM you.
Debbie

I agree with you, Debbie! Network marketing / MLM is VERY different from party plan and person-to-person direct sales. I think many people don't realize this and lump the two together. Certainly there may be some similarities on the surface, but the goals and the overall approaches are worlds apart.
Blessings,

Thanks for the input ladies!
So just so I know I'm clear here ... Dani Johnson focuses more on MLM? In that case, yes, MLM and Direct Sales are so different from each other. Yeah, they have their similarities but still so different.
The reason I'm so curious (and I'm sure Deb can appreciate this) ... even coaches need mentors, right?) and I've heard so much about Dani Johnson but it's always been associated with Direct Sales. MLM is not what I'm looking for. So, it makes me wonder ... is she direct sales or is she MLM?
This is such a touchy subject that I'm almost afraid to reply (lol) but (IN MY PERSONAL OPINION) I don't want religion tossed in with business. I'm a Christian and I'm not afraid to admit it. However, especially when you're in the field of mentoring/coaching I don't like to bring religion into it because I don't want to alienate those who aren't the same religion as me. There's lots out there.
So, therefore ... I also feel the same as the original poster.
Just my thoughts ... great discussion!

Are the goals of network marketing/mlm and direct sales REALLY worlds apart? I don't really think so! I guess if you are in direct sales because you are interested in it as a hobby or as a social outlet, then maybe the goals are different. But if you are in direct sales because you want to make money, you want to be able to stay home with your kids, you want to replace your income, etc... then I'd say that your goals DO have to do with money! And in that case, then the final goals are not all that different from MLM... it is just a different approach. Everyone has to find the approach that works for them.
I believe that in both cases, MLM and direct sales, Dani Johnson is excellent. Yes, she is a Christian. But even if you don't agree with her religious beliefs, there is still SO much to get out of her training. You have to look at the results she is getting. Look at how many people she has helped replace their incomes, go full-time in their MLM/Direct Sales careers, get out of debt, and even become 6-figure income earners. My husband is someone who has benefitted GREATLY from Dani's training. He was already doing well in network marketing, but her training has been like a power boost! He no longer needs to work long hours as an attorney, but is now working from home full-time in network marketing! And I get to stay home, too!
I've tried a couple of party plan companies before and just never ended up doing anything with them... too much going on in my life to be able to concentrate and frankly, I have had a huge confidence problem! But I've been listening to Dani Johnson CDs and working on my issues, and now I'm making a go of it again! And this time, I actually am feeling like I CAN do this. So anyway, I wouldn't hesitate to go to 1st Steps if you already have your ticket. Hey... she does have a money back guarantee! If you don't like it, get your money back! smileys/smiley2.gif

Thanks for your input Anne! Congratulations to both your husband's success and you working through your confidence issues!
I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree about MLM and DS being so much alike here smileys/smiley2.gif
And I just wanted to clarify that it's not necessarily that I don't believe in the same religion or anything like that ... It's just that if I want to learn something business-wise then I'd just prefer to keep religion out of it. So therefore I think I'll have to do more research and possibly find another route.
Like I said, I am a Christian however, if I want to learn religion then I'll go to a religious seminar or church (and I really do mean that in the nicest way possible smileys/smiley2.gif) I'm looking for something more strictly business.
Take care,

I agree with Anita.
I've listened to a few of the free stuff, and she has many good things to say which I've heard before.....
To me, religion should never be used as a selling/marketing tool. However, it goes to show how smart she is. The majority of society shares her views. Many people like to align themselves with those who have the same "morals" and beliefs. It makes them feel more comfortable using her tools, because she is very religious.
There is a reason her tools work.
Edited to add, I'm listening to her 9 mistakes people make and she does have good points. With anything, listening won't hurt. Take what you want and leave the rest.

I most of the time agree with not mixing religion and business. I used to be with homemade gourmet. In one of the training seminars we had one of the dist. asked a religios question along the lines of (stay with me in love here) what do you do when you do a party for people in the religion of the Mormon faith, apearantly she would have prayer before they ate. It got way out of hand and I was very offended, I am a Christain yes but I was there tolearn about Homemade Gourmet and how to build my business not about someones opinion on there belief. Again I am a Christian and do attend church and love Jesus. There are time I think Dani Johnson goes on and on. I also do not know how to use her phone scripts in the Direct sales business, using lead purchase from the Cutting Edge. Great discussion.
