Ok I am wanting to go the home party route with the candles but I have already ran through my warm list pretty much. Now I need to get the word out there more with others. There are no events scheduled (like fairs or craft things) near me anytime soon so now what? How do you find new hostessess?

I'm basiclly in the same boat as you. I'm not very aggressive. I've only booked one party at a party out of the four I've had. A few people have told me that they will have one over the summer. I'm thinking about emailing all the guests and telling them about online ordering and the incentives they can recieve for hosting. I need to sponsor someone soon too. I need to get this business building because once I'm out of parties I don't know how the heck I'm going to make any money. On a positve note I have gotten repeat orders from four customers too. So the candles are fab we just need to spead the word. smileys/smiley9.gifMaybe a classified ad in your local paper.

What about placing an ad in your local paper, putting up flyers (grocery stores, parks and rec, churches, libraries, etc), slipping mini flyers in mailboxes? Maybe even have an Open House (if you don't feel comfortable having one in your home do it in a library's meeting room or local restaurant's private room).

ETA: Also, what about having an Online Party? I wrote an article on it that used to be in this folder but it looks like it was taken down. LOL If you'd like I can find it for you and email it to you.Edited by: BLESS

thank you for the info. Keep the ideas coming! I want to be busy all the time!
Ruth, I do have a couple of ideas for you. One is, there is alot of great stuff at www.TheBooster.com (http://www.TheBooster.com) they have two different things I would suggest. They have stickers you can put on your invtitations that remind the guests about booking a show. Also, if you are not agressive then I would try this write on/wipe off message board they have it says "pick a date, pick a prize" Then your write on there all the dates that you want to get filled. Then you just set a basket next to it with some small prizes in it and then they will pick the date YOU want them to pick which is soon!smileys/smiley36.gifYou can also make the prizes things they have to redeam at thier show so that they will make sure to hold the date. Like gift certificates or "additional 5% off at your show" or something like that. They have all sorts of info that the customer fills out like thier b-day and thier anniversary, ect. and then there isa section that they tear off and then you stamp or sign eveytime they spend say $20 or something and then when they get the spaces filled you give them something free. I am going to start that with my customers. It will encourage them to buy more to get the stamps filled and it also gives me info so I can send info to people like husbands near anniversary time.
Also, the booster has birthday cards which you can send the month before thier birthday and it tells them they get something free or a percentage off if they order in thier birthday month.
Ok, now has anyone had success in putting an ad in the local paper about hosting parties?
Also, I have already posted some flyers. I also had an open house. I didn't get too many customers. Like my dh said, all my family and friends know about it and if they want to order something they know they can come to me but now I need to get outside of my circle.Thats the hard part!smileys/smiley5.gif

I would say to make up a flyer that has something about 'Hosting A Candle Party' and then give a run down of what they could get as incentives....then at the bottom of the flyer have tear offs that have your contact info, name, email, website and phone.
That way you can post them on bullentin boards etc. I am going to be placing an ad in the local paper soon! :)

Do you have a decal for your rear window of your car? I'm getting one from Jalapeno Designs for $28.00 (shes a wahm). She has some great samples for you to look at (specifically for candles). This is an easy way to advertise your business.

You can also have an open house, invite everyone you know, hang up flyers in your neighborhood. Have your display, cookies and punch. Have a raffle for all the guest. You can have a big basket for your drawing.. Give raffle tickets out:
1 raffle ticket for coming
2 for bringing a guest
5 for placing an order
10 for booking a party
You get the idea... ladies love to win gifts (I know I do)!
Just an idea, good luck.
