I'm new and starting to schedule my parties -- someone mentioned to me today that they thought Saturday afternoons were NOT good times because people were busy...I preferred the afternoon to keep the evening open for my family and was thinking other people would feel the same way.

I would love some opinions on if some days or times are good or bad for parties...I don't know if it matters, but it is jewelry I sell...

Thanks so much!!!!!

I don't have a lot of experience with booking parties, but personally I
have the opposite point of view than you. Saturday afternoon is
for my family, but Saturday evening would be a nice time to get out
with some friends.

It may depend on the demographic you're working with. It may also
depend on the time of year. I can't imagine going to an indoor
party (other than maybe a birthday party) in the afternoon when the
weather is nice.

In all honesty, it depends on the person and the group of friends. For some a Sat. afternoon is perfect, the laz around and are looking to get out. For others, it means sports or travels.

I talk to the hostess and try to get an idea for her friends and what their family lives are like.

No matter what, the date will not work for all the people. So the best way to avoid this is pick a date, have the hostess check with her top 3 to 5 people and if it looks good, move ahead. smileys/smiley36.gif

Best of luck!

Hi Momto2

I sell Jewelry also and I do Saturday Shows at 10:00 a.m. and at 2:00 in the afternoon. I Love It! The shows are just as well attended as any other time and they don't last as long. I am home by about 6:00 and have made about $400 - $500!

What I have found is that the guests at a show will be more inclined to have a show of their own at about the same time as the one they attend if it is a good turn out. I have at least onebooking forevery Saturday from now until June 10th...

Good Luck,

Sheryl

I agree it definately depends on the groups of people having the party and what they are use to. Some do midweek parties some do weekends it really just depends on what they are use to.

In my experience, weeknights work best. On weekends, esp in spring and summer, people want to be outside and/or doing family things. I am also a big fan of weekday morning shows, although I know this does not work for everyone. Good Luck

Saturday is my most requested time of day in the spring and fall. Winter and summer tend to be weeknights. But I'm rarely short of Saturday parties. I tend to do 2 those days if I can. Usually afternoon and evening. Occassionally morning and afternoon. It does depend on the person hosting though.

I used to do wine parties, but I found that everyone wanted friday and saturday nights...husband/family time for me! I rarely got an afternoon booking. I started with a new company and have only done weekday mornings. Its great because all the kids are in school and I can still enter my orders before they get home! No time away from family.

Suggest to your hostess that a weekday morning (assuming your group is stay-at-home moms) would work great. I do a lot of my parties at my house and serve mini muffins and juice. I also don't have to drag my things to someone else's house!

Weekday evenings used to do well for me.

I HOSTED a Discovery Toys party last December for one of the very successful reps (she has earned all the trips and stuff). I did it on a Friday night and it was a decent show. She was stunned though and said that had NEVER done a Fri show that turned out good.

It must just depend on the crowd.
