Why did you choose medical transcription vs. something else in the medical field?

I chose MT because I love anything to do with medicine, working with words, working on the computer and working at home.

I used to work in a dental office, and I much prefer working on a keyboard than in someone's mouth. :)

MT, do you specifically work MT in a specific field of medicine (like radiology, pediatrics, etc.) or do you do anything? I was just curious about that when one works from home versus doing transcription in a specific doctors office.

I am still planning on getting my MT certification. Money and time just seems to be an issue right now. It will happen.

I do hospital work, acute care, which includes operative notes, discharge summaries, H&P and consultations. Some of it is speech editing and some is straight transcription.

I also do QA on new MTs.

Money and time are hard to find, I know. Good luck!

Is there a lot of handwriting involved or just typing?
