First, make sure you are prepared to "do business" wherever you are.<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Always prepared with the "tools."

I carry business cards, brochures and scent samples with me wherever I go. I have a "scent sample bag" that creates conversation just by having it with me because it smells so great. Because of this, people will ask me what is in there, and of course I open "pandora's box!"

Whether I am in line at the grocery store, the bank or wherever, I am always giving out samples and my card, and inviting people to enter my candle drawing.

This will get a certain number of those people to my site, and some will become customers and others will become distributors.

I havethe CD presentation of the business and I carry a few of those, too. then, if someone is really interested, I can hand that to them and encourage them to check out the business.

Get involved in some groups just for your business. Networking groups are everywhere and can create solid customers and retail sales on a regular basis. Also, over time, you may find some who want to join you.

Start with your warm market and broaden your approach from there. Ask for referrals. Ask who they know who likes to hold home parties. Think of every home party you have attended or been invited to and contact that hostess.

Keep a positive approach and outlook and BELIEVE that the right people will show up! They will!

Good luck!

I try to never be without a handful of business cards and a scent-sample or two on me at all times. Whenever I reach into my pocket to pull out my"regular" business card sometimes a Scent-Sations card happens to come out with it. It's already outso I might as well give it to them along with my "regular" card, right?

I also like to put a few scent samples in my front shirt or jacket pocket because I'll notice the scent every once in a while and that will remind me that I need to give it away to someone.

All you have to do is say the words, "candles" and"scent-sample" and the people are eagerly pressing it up to their noses. I mean, what else are they gonna do with it? Anyway, I've never had a negative reaction and I don't anticipate one any time soon!

By far the BEST tool to be carrying around is your contagious, unbridled Enthusiasm!! If you have no other "tools" available you can happily and excitedly scribble your name and website on a piece of scrap paper, or burger wrapper, or the back of their hand! =) Whatever it takes!

People like happy, excited people!!
