I see that some of you are with Heritage Makers and do digital scrapbooking. I am looking to do this for family first, as gifts.
How much are the books with heritage makers? Why couldnt i just do this on my own with a digital program?

Hi Ya'll
I am looking in on how to do digital scrapbooking! I have been searching & Searching & just can't find the right company!I really like Memory makers. I love ther paper . But I have old black & white & brown photos . I am really pickie I guess. But I would like to find something that I could resore some photos too. While I am making a scrapbook!!
I am doing this for my family & more for my kids& there kids etc..My kids will have the photos & pass it along . Ijust want something that will stand out & scream WOW this is MY FAMILY! I am SO PROUD!

I've seen some digital scrapbooking stuff at Staples. Looked interesting but I'm one of those good old fashioned croppers. Another thing that concerns me is the cost of the ink to be used. You definately want a good quality print so that means using the "best" print quality meaning more ink. I know our printer carts. can cost aroudn $27 for just one black! And then the color ones don't last very long.

I get scared to print pictures off the computer
they end up being to fuzy or the print just if awfull!Maybe its just me.
But it would be nice to know how to do it.I wish I could find something to restore old pohotos! anyone know how to do that?

With Heritage Makers, your digital layouts will be printed and published in a professionally bound book. So it is no different than going to a big time publishing company and asking them to do the same thing.
Heritage Makers will be releasing a new digital scrapbooking program in June. There will be no software to download and it will all be done in the publishing program through Hertiage Makers.
As for restoring old photos, not sure exactly what you mean. In Photoshop you are able to touch up photos but I'm not sure exactly how. If they are really old and cracked, you'd most likely need to go to a professional place to have them touched up. I'm not sure, I could be wrong.

Also, if your photos are not printing well at home, there could be several reasons. One is that the dpi/ppi of your image is low. Dpi is "dots per inch" and refers to how many ink dots get sprayed onto your paper as your image is printing. Ppi is "pixels per inch" and relates to how many dots or pixels are on your screen when you view something. Most computer monitors show a perfectly clear picture with a small range of pixels...(under 100) while to see a printed image clearly, you have to have a resolution of 200 or higher. So something that looks "good" on screen might print blurry or fuzzy.
For good print quality, you must be able to adjust your resolution for printing to 200 dpi or higher.
I can email you a more detailed explanation of what resolution is and why it matters for home printing.

for those of you looking for digital scrapbooking products etc... feel free to PM me. I have been digital scrapbooking for 3 years, I am also with Heritage Makers, but it seems to me that some of you are looking for something different (as far as products go).
Also, a note about dpi and printing. for the best quality you want photos(or digital layouts) to be at 300dpi (I design digital scrapbooking products and they are ALWAYS 300dpi)

Ditto the dpi! ppi...is the resolution of the "pixels" on your computer screen and it doesn't have to be very high. DPI on the other hand is "dots per inch" and relates to how many ink dots are printed per inch when you print something.
When trying to save a digital layout or file, always make sure that the entire layout is at LEAST 200 dpi, and 300 if you have the storage space and don't care about ink costs. If you try to print a 72 dpi or 90 dpi image from your printer it will be horrible.
