The 2 Most Important Questions I Like To Ask and Answer are:
1. What is your Company's National Average NET INCOME (after all expenses) per Show?
And
2. What is the National Average $Dollar Amount$ paid in commission monthly perperson in your downline?
Please answer in $Dollar$ amounts, not percentages. And give us your Company's statistics, not just your own. National Average is more important due to differences of Regions and Income Levels.
Happy Easter,
Sheryl

Another great question to ask is how much it costs every year to renew ones
consultant status. Some charge nothing, some charge $25, and some
charge $350. A good thing to know going in.
I cannot yet answer the first two quetions (we open May 1st.)...

Interesting, and I don't know. Is that horrible. I know what I make. I know what my team makes. I know what someone who is kit buyer makes smileys/smiley36.gif.
I might have to email our field advisor on that one.

Yes, Nondy, that is also a Great Question..
What $Dollar Amount$does your Company REQUIRE you to Order? And is that Monthly, Quarterly or Yearly?
Or
Do you have a Yearly Renewal Fee without the Requirement to place orders?

Hmmm... I didn't ask. I live in New England and direct
sales/party plans aren't really big here, so the national average
doesn't mean much to me as a comparison. It's also a relatively
new company, so I suspect the national average is probably lower than
more establshed companies with more experienced reps.
We don't have a $ requirement we need to order. It's sort of a
"we know you each have different reasons for joining on with us"
attitude. We have no yearly renewal fee.

Sheryl,
No quotas unless you want to get paid on your group. I believe there is a
yearly $25 fee to buy at wholesale.

Well, I can do my best to answer for Northern Lights at Home...although this is kind of tricky. Not something most companies put out to their people.
We require $300 in sales quarterly
No renewal fee!
Gross commission on an average show is $130.50. Net would be something like...$120.50 based on our average of 7+ people in attendance and that would be if EVERYONE took home a catalog & all other supplies offered to then and you couldn't reuse anything (very rare).
For my personal unit (only 7 people) OUR average commission per month is $257. That runs the gammet from some who don't sell at all, or just the quarterly $300 and me who's the company's top seller.
I hope that helps. A tip for you...if you work only to the minimums that companies offer, you probably won't be making a whole lot of money.
Just my 2 cents.

Lisa~
That's not bad. So, your average commission per person in your downline would be a little over $35.00 per month. That's better than a lot of companies.
I didn't realize that most people don't know these figures about their companies. It is very helpful to be informed when you talk to someone about joining your team.It helps if you can tell them, not just your averages, but nationwide figures.

That average commission is per person TO them. In other words each person makes on average $257 per month. Some more, some less. Me personally, I make about $550 in downline commissions and my 5% bonus each month. That's above and beyond the amount I make at the party (that was the $130.50 average). All in all I generally walk away at the end of the month making more than $1000 gross and netting most of it. Maybe $900.
I hope that clarifies better. smileys/smiley1.gif

Yes, I think I should clarify the secondquestion.
How much does anaverage consultant get paid in commissionPer Active Person in their downline?
Let's say you have 10 people in your downline and your average Commission Check is $700, that means you are making an average of $70.00 per person / month.
The answer to these questions also helps with Goal Setting. If a person wants to make $1,000 a month on just a Commission check then you could tell them how many people they would need to have in their downline.
The answer to the first question can help a new consultant to construct their calendar to fit their basic financial needs.
Let's say you need to make $1,000 a month immediate income. If the Average Net Income per show is $200, then they would need to hold 5 Shows.
I just think this is so much easier for everyone to understand than all of the percentages we all talk about so much, especially to people outside of our industry.
I hope to hear more from some other reps on this subjectsmileys/smiley1.gif

Hi Sheryl~
With lia sophia, the company average show is $750 so a new advisor would make in commission, after the $6.00 fee, $219 on one show. I, as a Unit Manager, would make $75 on that $750 show from my downline. Also, as a Unit Manager, I make more commission % so I would make $294 from that $750 show. Plus, as a Unit Manager, you can make bonuses from the company depending on what your team sales are. I personally, as of the past couple of months, make approximately $2,000 in commission from my team and a $300 bonus on top of that PLUS I make 40% on my personal sales. My personal sales range from $2,000 to $4,500 a month. I usually make around $3,500 in commission a month from my sales and my team! I don't know if you were looking for exact #'s, but you got 'em. I am always setting new goals to achieve and to try to go up another notch. I have never doubted myself and have every intention of making it to the top with lia sophia. I hope this helps with your questions.

I understand that dollar amounts are easier if you are referring to show expenses and yearly renewal fees, but since show averagescan vary in different regions, then knowing the percentage that is paid and what it is paid on is a simpler way to explain the bottom line in my experience.
For example, with lia sophia, we have no yearly renewal fees so that's not an issue. Our net income from personal shows is 30% of the guest sales minus $6. There are no other charges. I use a middle-of-the-road show amount of$500 (very conservative since our national show average is $700+) to demonstrate the potential earnings to a prospective advisor, so she could expect to earn approximately $624 a month doing one show a week with lia sophia.
Our override (or downline commission) is paid on personal and team retail sales, not wholesale. This makes a huge difference in paychecks. Because a portion ofthat amount is based on other people's performance, however, I simply explain what the potential is, rather than giving an average income. I can really only depend on myself, so that's the figure I concentrate on.
As Alice shared, we also have monthly and quarterly cash and jewelry bonuses that we can earn as managers and those increase as we move higher in the management team. Our management team is 7 levels.

I was hoping to get some bottom line information without all of the variables and what if's. Maybe it's not possible if you have variating levels of commission on Personal Sales, Team Sales or Dollar amounts. That is too unpredictable.
With my company nothing ever fluctuates or changes so it easy to know these figures.I just thought every one else would know these averages also.
Thanks for trying,
Sheryl
