View Full Version : All of these rater companies frustrate me

I think I've applied to all of the companies that offer rater jobs. That would be Lionbridge, Leapforce, and Butler Hill. (I used to work for WorkforceLogic but I don't think they re-hire old raters).
Only Lionbridge ever replied, and it was to tell me that I was not available enough hours for the position I applied. So the contact at the company told me to apply to a position with less hours, which I did.
Now I wonder if any of them will ever respond. Have you had luck with these companies? Is it possible to get rehired by WorkfoceLogic?

I worked for Workforce Logic for 2 full years. However, they don't hire for this job anymore. I have been with Leapforce for over a year now, so they do hire former WFL raters (I had my WFL experience on my resume). I'd just keep applying with Leapforce until you hear back. They really are good to work for.

Can someone explain what this is to me and how much it pays? I have never heard of it, and I'm pretty Internet savvy.
Would they hire someone with no experience?
Thanks,
Ray

go to leapforceathome.com or the websites for lionbridge, workforcelogic, or butlerhillgroup. All raters sign non disclosure agreements and are not supposed to disclose any details, such as pay amounts. Good luck!

I've read about Leapforce, both on their website and posts by others on the Internet who have worked there. It seems to get mixed reviews.
Do you recommend one of these companies over the others?
Does one pay better and/or is more likely to hire and retain?
Thanks,
Ray

Different people have different opinions as to which of these companies is better. There are differences in pay, but not big differences. There are differences is the requirements and limitations regarding maximum and minimum work times, times when work can be done, etc. There are differences in how the raters are expected to track and report their work. I can only suggest that you find out as much as you can about all of them and figure out which would seem to best suit your needs. Then try to find out who is currently hiring and maybe apply for more than one. As for which is most likely to hire or retain raters, that is unpredictable. This sort of thing is much less certain than a regular job. I have worked for LF for about a year and a half, and from what I have heard about all the companies, I think it was the best choice for me. Many people who work for the other companies would say the same about their choices. There are also dissatisfied people at all the companies.
I'm sorry I am not able to be more specific, but I don't have clear answers for you.

It did take Lionbridge a good month to respond back to me, but once they did, they gave me the exams and I am on with them. I think patience pays off with these companies.

Thank you all for the positive comments. It does pay off to be patient, it just sometimes seems like it won't pay off. It would help if the sites would let you reapply after a certain amount of time or if you could ask them what your status is.
I seem to remember that with many of these sites you can't ask them what your status is or if you call they won't help you since they get so many potential applicants. Is this true?

I would think so. Applicants have to realize that they're not just competing with stay-at-home moms for these coveted spots. (About 35% of moms are stay-at-home moms, although I have no idea what percentage of those at-home moms have a desire to be or are currently work-at-home moms.) I've read message boards with messages from people working in this position who are employed full time during the day. Essentially, you're competing with any working adult over the age of 18 who applies for this position. And since the position is well-advertised AND so many people need/want to work second (or even third jobs in the current economy), the number of applicants has to be huge. I'm not sure how it'd be feasible to allow for the possibility of contact with each and every applicant, as nerve-wracking as that might be for the eager applicant.

I agree with being patient, because it can take time. They tend to hire in batches, based on the clients needs. Best wishes.

You can and should reapply. However, you may need to use a new e-mail address in order to do so.
I applied to Leapforce twice back in the summer of 2009 and was rejected both times. Believe it or not, I was most likely rejected because I had experience doing the same work through WorkforceLogic. For some reason that they did not wish to disclose, LF initially did not want former quality raters. Anyway, even though I shouldn't have, I gave up.
This past fall I decided to look into this again and I started reading the messages on this forum and another one. I came across a message by another person who worked for WFL and was rejected by LF. However, she didn't give up, and was finally hired by LF after applying about ten times. I realized that I gave up too easily and decided to apply again. After revising my resume and cover letter I applied again last December and was recently invited to take the pre-screening test.

There are differences in pay, but no major differences. Differences are the requirements and limitations on maximum working times and minimum times when work can be done, etc. There are differences in how the evaluators are expected to track and report on their work. I can only suggest to find out everything you can about them all and find what seems to best suit your needs. Then try to find out who is currently using and perhaps apply more than one.

No rating experience is needed for Lionbridge. Go to this thread (http://www.wahm.com/forum/google-rater-235/501616-interview-lionbridge-coo-satish-maripuri-internet-assessors-program.html), there is a radio interview with the COO; and also my tips for applying.
All the best
:)
NB: I'm in my 3rd year contract with Lionbridge

Thank you all for the positive comments. That alone is worth being patient, just sometimes does not seem worth it. That would be useful for sites that allow you to return after a certain amount of time or if you could ask what your status. While waiting to hear back, you can always apply for other work. The pay is great, but like mentioned, we are not able to disclose this.

For all those trying to get on with any of the companies that hire IC quality raters, I really recommend being patient and persistent!! I was literally trying to get on with these companies for years. Yes, you read that correctly, years.
I am now on with Leapforce, but it took a long time and a lot of persistence.
So be patient, be persistent, be professional and continue to pursue other opportunities as well.
Good luck to all who apply!
