Hey all, I'm new to this forum. I'm looking for work at home in Texas, preferably data entry or something, no call center jobs. I tried to find jobs online but most have been scams and it is frustrating. I'm hoping to find some here and look forward to any tips you may have. I've recently tried starting selling my own photography on Ebay, but it's not enough to pay the bills. Thanks for reading this, have a great day everyone!! :)

Welcome! I would start here:
http://www.wahm.com/forum/telecommuting-moms-34/370755-new-members-start-here-work-home-job.html

You can find work here. My suggestion would be to do what I did. Start by familiarizing yourself with every folder on the forum that interests you. Reading and research is required. A lot of it. This cannot be over emphasized. It took me weeks of my spare time just to read everything...to figure out what was where, and where I could find more information. This minimized questions as I learned to find the answers by doing searches first, though I did not find all answers this way.

It is imperative to develop and use research skills to find a telecommuting job. A significant investment of time will most likely be necessary. It will require following numerous leads...so many that you cannot remember everything you have looked at, extensive reading and researching, and studying to be successful. Your success depends on this.

A company that hires telecommuting workers needs people who can and will work independently, are self-guided, diligent, and willing to to do some problem-solving on their own. A telecommuter needs to be self-reliant. Your best chance at long-term success will depend on these qualities and skills.

To Keep you from looking all around the world and to help get you started on applying to real work at home jobs there are many, Never pay to work from home

My Tips

Home Based Business such as Mary K, Avon , etc requires upfront money/invest, we know these can make us some money on the side, but I dont waste my time because I hate selling, but yeah they require you to Pay $$$.

Work @ Home Jobs, some require you to pay for Back Ground Checks and thats it, When I first started mine didnt it paid for me, but now its a bit diff,

Anyway Try ACD Direct, Sutherland @ Home, TeleTech @ Home, Live Ops,
OR You can Google these Names and I'm sure thery websites will come up for you.

These are the websites off the top of my head www.teletech.com, www.liveops.com, www.acddirect.com, If sites dont work Please Google and look for them yourself.

This will get you started with some real WAH jobs, they are legit, just make sure they hire in your area, i'm sure one of them will.

I am happy top help, the economy is tough for a run around these days!

I have been employed from home since 2008, Telecommuting, I have worked for several jobs all doing the same thing, (answering calls from home) & I love it, I have been with one employer since 2008, the others paid 10 bucks a hour and paid me every week, I do work from home right now, its my only source of income, a job not a business, I tried helping you with some facts, I never been scammed online looking for work anyway I hope my post helped . Other than that I do make candles to sell offline.

You do have a lot to learn, especially once you are hired, you have to do online training, downloading of materials and so much more, I wish you the Best and hope you find what you are looking for.

WAH jobs dont require you to have kids or to be a mom to work from home with them.

The OP stands for either original poster or original post. That was you. I am assuming you are referring to my post.

I am a telecommuting mom who is already doing it.:) I don't know what I said that implied that I was not. That is exactly how I was able to share the information that I did with you. I learned it the hard way. I have an eBay business that I have been running over 4.5 years, I write for a few article and SEO writing companies, and I do editing work.

Hi,

I understand what it's like to only have to or want to do non-phone work. I have a work at home jobs blog that lists many companies that hire for non-phone work, just click on my signature. You are welcome to take my work at home survey too that I just added to my blog :)

As an Avon rep myself, I object to your slur about the company I represent. As we have been in business since 1886 and are a Fortune 500 company do not believe we are a scam. I myself managed to quit my job and do this fulltime within the first year.

Before you debase other companies, please do more research

I'm not sure if you are even talking to me, But I do see I'm the only one who posted something about Avon/Mary Kay, which I never mentioned any one of these jobs were scams and I never will, I know how long they been around, I buy Avon and Mary kay, What I did post was the different between a Job from home or a Home Based Business! I know my research, maybe it's time that you reread my Post if you were talking to me.

When I first started to work at Home, its not with selling ot direct Sales/commission, its a paycheck/direct deposit, just like a 9 to 5 on the clock!

My research has been done, Before people utilize the internet to bad mouth others before they read the whole post, they do need to know who to cross, I'm not the one. I give respect and by no means my Post mentioned that any company was a scam, & Oh if you werent talking to me case close, So much is going on under this one question, if I missed the person who referred to my post, reply . All of this for nothing. I'm objecting the bashing or falsely accusing me.

:confused:There was no slur about Avon. I ctrl'd+F and did not find any. The poster said nothing derogatory there. The poster was clarifying.
