When I did a search on Google on "Arbonne vs Mary Kay" I was brought to this site, but I can't find anything on here regarding it. The reason I was looking was b/c I have someone that I am talking to who sells Mary Kay and I wanted to do some research to explain to her the benefits of Arbonne vs Mary Kay. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice?

Usually I don't compare compnies. If someone is withis w/XYZthey know how theirs works so that allows me to simply showcase how we work, letthem ask questions (& you ask some too) to see where their interest lies & what is important to them. Edited by: Kiana's Mom

It might not be the greatest idea to use the term VERSUS. Could get into a war of words. WE could COMPARE them.
Are you talking about comparing the product or about comparing details of the business for reps?
We all know that skin care lines are pretty much the same.. if they are good.

I agree, typically we try to stay away from talking about other companies. It comes across wrong at times. Instead just sharing the benefits of ours. If we got into comparison we could step on some toes without meaning to do so.
The best thing to do is to just get into a conversation with her about the industry.Ask questions about how things work, their products etc.Typically conversations like those are give & take so you'll be able to see how the two are different without pointing anything out.
If you are wanting to research other companies then go to their websites & their boards to find out. Ask questions.

If you like, you can PM me and I will give you my email address and we can talk more about this. I spent a month researching between MK and @rbonne. I have a cousin who has sold MK for 15 years and has supported 3 children (one in a wheelchair) by it. I had never heard of @rbonne. Never went to a party. Didn't know anyone who sold it. And I chose it. If you would like, I can email you the letter that I sent to my cousin about WHY I chose it over MK.

As a Mary Kay consultant, May I offer a "Thank You" and words ofappreciation to you all fortaking the high road in answering this poster's queries. My real feeling is that a free market economy can accomodate all of us, and that our competitition should be with ourselves.
My personal opinion is the someone considering any Direct Sales business should look at how they feel about the products that their Co. offers. We all deal with alot of challenges in building a business and if you areONLY in it because you think Company "X's" compenstation structure is better than Company "Z's" - Your Why's won't be enough to keep you in.
I would encourage you to go to the A----- site and read the EOA stories. Those women and men made the decision to be a part of this Co. because they really feel a passion for the products that they offer and for the Co. that they are a part of. Do you feel that same passion, are you as committed to lifestyle of health and wellness as they are. Are your personal and career goals in alignment with the Co.'s mission statement. IMHO THAT should be your criteria for deciding whether or notto join ANY Co. If it is a good match, your "Why", your purpose and mission will be so clear that nothing will stop you in your mission to share A----- products and thecareer opp with others.

Thanks for the kind words! I always teach my consultants to never bash another company, it only makes the individual look bad, it also looks unprofessional I think. I think it comes down to a combination of loving the products and understanding the different compensation plans between different company's.

I agree, part of getting someone to join your team is finding out what their hopes and goals are, and seeing if it will be a good fit. There are differences in the approach, but they need to decide for themselves what they are looking to do and we can really just present our "side" (for lack of a better word) and let them decide.
facedesigndiva, I have had MK gals at my classes before (they never tell me in advance,smileys/smiley36.gif) and they always have fun, usually buy something, and one even hosted a class for me. I am sure if I had been badmouthing them, or any other company, that would not have happened.
The fact is we offer different products and have a different philosophy. But different doesn't mean we have to be in competition. It just makes sense for a prospect to be informed, though, and decide what is best for them.

My suggestion would be to sit down with a consultant from each company.
Take lots of notes, don't sign on the dotted line until you go home and
look at both opportunities and then decide which company you fit with
best. I am familiar with both companies as a former Mary Kay
consultant for 11 years and a personal use consultant with Arbonne
for almost 5 years. I don't have experience in business
building per se with Arbonne, but I do know their system. These
companies are very different, the only thing they have in common is
they are both direct sales, sell skin care and make up but that's where
the similarities end.
Again, talk to consultants from both companies before you decide.

Hi girls! I'm a MK director, and first I would like to say that most of your advice is classy and cool. I would have said the same thing to someone asking, that it's not about comparing, but talking about why you love your company. The only concerning thing for me is that the original poster did not mention that the person had asked for information. I think it is unprofessional to approach someone from a similar company to recruit them for your own company. I would never do that to someone, in fact a good friend of mine is with your company, and she loves it. While we'll talk about general business, we both know that it would be overstepping to do anything more. Happy Easter!

I agree with the sentiment Valerie however I don't think it is safe to assume that she approached the person. It's possible but it's also possible that it happened the other way around. She simply says she is talking with someone who is with MK. For all we know she was approached by the MK person. One of my good friends was at lunch with a prospect & they were approached by a MK consultant who wanted to know what they were doing & wanted to try it also.

I agree that it could go either way, I have also been approached in that way by someone wanting to know more about my company. But her post wasn't clear, so I thought I would throw in my .02 cents about it if that wasn't the case.

Actually, the company doesn't advocate actively recruiting consultants from other companies. Of course, as you guys point out, if they approach you it's different.
