I was at my daughter's condo today and came across a invite to a competitors party (which she isn't going to), but they are copying us!
The invite says:
Hey girls! It is time to pamper yourself!
All of us working women deserve some time for ourselves and what better way than with a blank blank Pampering Session.
If you have never tried blank blank, then you don't know what you are missing! If you are currently a blank blank user than you know how great these products are!
Let me tell you how to earn some free stuff to add to your blank blank collection.
I look forward to seeing everyone there and I really appreciate your support.
Can these other companies come up with their own original ideas? Why do they have to copy us? Everyone knows we are the original spa escapes people!!!
I guess it's true though, it is the finest form of flattery, right?

My unit leaders were talking about that at our last meeting. My sister works for Mary Kay and they just came out with a Rosemary foot pampering set. I think a little competition is healthy! I do absolutly love the smell though! I've thought about buying it myself!

I'm also a Mary Kay consultant and we have had the pedicure sets as limited editions probally the last three years and we also do spa classes and have for a long time. By the way Iam with mk and bc .
I thought this site was friendly towards other companies.

Is there just one real estate company in your town.I bet not. I bet there are lots of different real estate people to list with.

Oh I wasn't saying there was anything wrong with it! I hope you didn't misunderstand me! My sister is one of those competative people and came out to tell me that she thinks BC is just a copy cat of MK. Well, whatever but I told her where MK focuses on skin care and makeup we focus on skincare and relaxation. Its all aobut what makes you feel comfortable. Hopefully she wont be mad at me for long!
I also visit the MK board, I don't talk but I do read. Were in the same business I think it helps to share tips.
Lipstick, how do you sell both? Do you think theres a favorite out of the two?

Out of curiosity, isn't it a conflict of interest to sell from two different "beauty" companies? I was told that I am not able to sign anyone up from another company. Maybe I was told wrong.

I don't think she was being unfriendly towards anyone or any other company, she was just asking an honest question!

I've heard of several women who have signed up another from different companies. I don't knwow if there is anything you would have to worry about legally but I think as long as yoru not "selling" informatio between one company and the next there really wouldn't be a problem.

A friendly reminder: Please be careful what you post! We are not here to bash other reputable companies! They are not our competition, but sisters in the industry.
This board has always been friendly towards other companies. The question was about wording of an invitation. I believe it is an honest question and not meant to be bashing other companies.
But, what I do find interesting is the wording is so close sometimes that it is hard to know which company it is! There was a spa retreat a couple of months ago at our local park district. If you looked at the ad for it, you would have thought it was BeautiControl. But it was for a totally different company!
I have had clients think that I was going to be at this retreat to find out it was a different company all together.
Ok, I am done with my Mommy role for today. Thanks for listening/reading!

Well, like I said above I wasn't trying to offend anyone. I do however, think that there is competition but in general its a healthy competition! Kind of like sisters on two different teams! :)

Rose,
I was not directing my answer towards you! It was just a friendly reminder since we have so many new people on the board. Honest questions can be read wrong, so that is why I put out the gentle reminder!

I was not meaning to sound like I was bashing anyone. I didn't even name the other companys name...I know for a fact we started the spa thing and it just amazes me that whenever someone gets a good idea, other people jump on the bandwagon.
And yes, I have other realtors copy my ideas. And yes, there are zillions of skin care companies out there...all of them saying that they have the best products. And whoever was the very first skin care company out there, I guess they could say the others just tagged along for the ride.
I didn't mean to open a can of worms.Sorry about the post.

Andrea,
Your question was fine! It can be read wrong as you see it was starting to. That is the only reason I posted the gentle reminder.
Please continue to post your great ideas and your questions.
We do havea lot of lurkers from other boards also on here looking for good ideas. Just wanted to make sure we all stay friendly!
Sorry if I came across as mad.....wasn't my intentions either!
Let's get back to some lively conversation!!

Interesting thread. I didn't realize you guys had the corner market on the spa thing, lol. To me it's a no brainer that people are going to jump on a good idea. Otherwise it wouldn't be good. smileys/smiley1.gif
But seriously, when you say that you started the spa thing do you mean spa parties or having spa lines as products? I don't really know anything about BC.I would thinkmany companies have had spa products for awhile.
And as far as the wording I think they seem rather generic. I mean when you think of spa products you think of words like pampering, soothing, relaxing, girls night etc etc. I'm sure a lot of people would come up with that wording even if they've never heard of BC. Unless you mean the flier was actual word for exact word & formatting, just taking out the BC name & replacing it with the other. Which would be rather rude.

Well I don't think its a big deal who started what. I mean, there are a lot of great ideas and companies often go after eachothers! The only two I really know about are MK and BC, MK has been around a lot longer but both offer great products. I order from my sister quite often!I'm pretty sure that BC got an idea or two from another company. Its all about what the general public wants. If company A has a great moisturizer for your feet that is selling like candy of course Company B is going to try and have something similar. We all work in the same field and its important that were open and able to share things with one another! :) good luck to everyone!

I think it would be like going to the store and only having one brand of product. People like to have choices on everything. every company thinks that their product is the best. I think that there are enough consumers to go around lol!smileys/smiley4.gif
I like to see what the competition is doing so I can try to do it different than they do. I am a former MK lady and my sister is a former Avon lady, now we are both SPA GIRLS. Some people just have a different view of different companies. The important thing is that we are all in this to help others live the life they love, and to make the best of every situation.
Ok, I'm done with that lol just wanted to say my piece and welcome the newbies to the board!smileys/smiley17.gif

Laura thats a great suggestion! I mean there are several great bra companies, but you always know when you find that certain one that fits you just right!
