Yikes!

So yesterday I check my email nothing special and the like 5 minutes later and i see like 8 free sample requests and a few contest submissions, ok cool I think. Then I check my personal sites website and I had a ton of visits coming from some mycoupon site. I checked it out and someone had posted on there freebie board my website, ok so now from yesterday and today I have had 16 free samples requests and 11 entries in to the free drawing. lol I have to change my request form to say that I will be picking a few random entries a day to send samples out to, (random meaning the ones that are really interested, and I will be calling them,lol). I’m not sending them out just so someone can get freebies in their mail, lol

I also redid my site to show the online ordering and some other pages I updated.

I had the same thing happen to me - I had a free sample request on my site and on 1 day I had 300 requests for samples and they kept coming in - it turns out there were a bunch of freebie sites linking to me. I had to take it down - and no one ordered anything from all the free samples I gave out. I think this people are just freebie freaks who like getting stuff for free no matter what it is! They even have a thread that says "What free stuff did you get in the mail today?"

Like you are going to give out 300 samples for nothing!!! smileys/smiley36.gifThere was a really big freebies board up called yes-its-free, they had to take down the freebbies board because they had a lot of small business complain about it. I'm cool with getting all the new emails to add to my list, I clearlysay on my form that you will be puton my email newsletterby signing up for the offer.

I've had that happen, and I got on my tracking site to see where they were all coming from - I found it andI posted a reply there (especially after someone made acomment about "watch out or they might try to sell you something). I let them know that although I do appreciate the exposure of being on their freebie board, that I am running a personal home based business and the purpose of the scent samples (and I specified these are not full sized votives, just shavings of the wax) is to determine if the scent quality is up to the potential customer's standard, with the ultimate goal of making a sale with the potential customer.


I haven't gotten a hit since ;) I eventually did remove that webpage though and just redid the whole website.
