Chocolate bunnies, jelly beans, marshmallow peeps, M&Ms, Skittles, chocolate eggs and usually some sort of cute easter or spring toy. Something small. We dont go all huge because they really don't need all of that candy and they'll be more excited about going to church all dressed up in their new Easter Outfits and then going to my moms forEaster Dinner.

We got them some Christian Easter books and I want to make Resurrection eggs (http://www.rainbowcastle.org/resurrectioneggs.html) for them too. They will also get candy, the eggs we decorate together and maybe a small toy or stuffed animal as well.

My 2 yr old DS is getting the Chicken Little DVD. We rented it and he LOVED it! My 5 yr old DD, I'm not sure yet. Probably a new game for her Gameboy Advance. I try to stay away from the candy and add stickers, cards, coloring books, that kinda stuff.

We usually do a themed basket - one year it was new beach gear (swimsuits, beach chair, towel, goggles, etc.) - and then throw in candy, etc. But this year, our son is getting a new bike instead of a basket because he needs a new one. Our oldest daughter is getting some new books (because she wants them) in her basket and then candy. My kids mostly care about hunting for eggs and don't pay much attention to their baskets any way.

My kids are all grown up. They always got choclate bunnies without ears. We still laugh about it today. I would eat the ears off the bunnies, which made my kids laugh. I created a custom greeting card that said. Thanks for all the great ears! I few years ago I sent a box of nothing but ears. Told them I found finally found them, it took ears of looking. Just some fun. Family stuff.
Happy Easter everyone. May all your bunnies have ears.

Even though my kids are teens now-A chocalate bunny and maybe some other candy if I see something different, my daughter always gets a stuffed animal and my son a new ball of some kind. Usually a movie, sometimes just some silly stuff, but the Easter Bunny always brings new toothbrushes.
Happy Easter!

My son is 19 and I still make him a small basket. (and if girlfriend if he has one at the time). I always put inlots of candy, and I always include something religious. This could be anything from a small bible or inspirational book to a cross necklaceor just afavorite bible versein a frame to hang in their room. When my son was younger, I put toys in it also.

My children are teenage and older now so we haven't been doing much Easter stuff. But this year, My grandsons are 4,2, and 7 months so we are going to color eggs for the first time with them. I'll be out of town on Easter but my daughter will probably hide them and let them hunt.

The Easter bunny will bring lots of eggs.
My son is 15 months old and he is just starting to talk.
The other day he picked an egg from my Easter decoration. proudly he walked over to us with the meanwhile broken egg. With a big bright smile he said: "egg" and handed it to me. When I took it, he said "danke" (german for thank you). Who can be angry with such a cutie...
For Easter, I got lots of plastic eggs for him to play with. Hopefully he leaves my real ones alone after that.
We will also have some chocolate easter bunnies and chocolate eggs.

We don'tget visited by the Easter Bunny, but mommydoes love chocolate smileys/smiley2.gifso we have some candy and Cara had a pretty dress to wear to church. As she gets older she'll probably get a couple of small toys, like a stuffed animal or something to play with outdoor.
This is kind of the right time of year for things like bikes and stuff... and she ended up with two tricycles and a seat for mommy's bike this month... but I don't plan to get them for her for Easter presents. I don't really like how gift-focused it has gotten, people honestly spend more at Easter than at Christmas now! smileys/smiley5.gif

If you lived in my house, the Easter Bunny never came by. Our household strictly treated Easter as a time of reverence and reflection on why believe in our faith. Ok, so maybe there was an Easter Egg Hunt or two at church but that was IT.

My kids are all grown and live in their own homes now, so there are no Easter baskets. And as they grew up, the contents of the baskets would vary. But a MUST was always a chocolate bunny. Marshmallow peeps, jelly beans, opera creams and malted eggs were usually there too.
As my kids got older, I replaced some of the candy with CD's and other small gifts they wanted.
One tradition that still exists is the easter Egg Hunt at my parents house every year. The grandchildren range in age from babies to adults, so there is always alot of fun. We used to hide actual candy for the hunt. But that was a problem when they were hidden so well that not even the "Easter Bunny" hiding the treats could find them all. Sometimes things would be found months later! Yecchh! So the hunt was changed to plastic eggs that could hide coins inside. Alot less messy if the eggs were not found right away.smileys/smiley1.gif

Happy Valentines Day!!</font> We have 5 kids and a big
family, so I like to stay away from the candy, they get plenty of it! Every
year they get new swim suits, beach towels, summer pjs, new tooth
brush, and tooth paste, bubbles and other outside fun stuff, coloring
books and fun pencils for school, maybe some bath stuff too.

We don't make a huge deal of the Easter Bunny, but try to make sure that the kids know what Easter Sunday is really about. We do the fun stuff - a basket with some candy, a Veggie Tales video or similar. When we get together with my family, my sister and I buy a bunch of small candy, fill plastic eggs and hide them in the yard after lunch.
Since our daughter (5 1/2) already figured out Santa Clause this past summer, I don't think it'll take her long to figure out a bunny can't hide eggs lol.

I found some Peter Rabbit chocolate bunnies at the Dollar store, so my daughters will each get one. A Peter Rabbit book, my oldest calls him Peanut Butter Rabbit (I have no idea where that came from... lol). I have to carry on the tradition my mom started... a tooth brush, we also got one in our Christmas stocking http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif. I may try to find a stuffed animal to go with the book... but our house is full of unused stuffed animals so maybe not. And then some jelly beans, peeps (of course), and whatever else catches my eye.

Well it has to be a wicker basket full of green grass,
or it's not right, and this year we will have easter
eggs all over the place, each with a little candy
and coin inside - that's a real coin, we're learning
to count money - and a Nintendo DS lite game to
add to our main present from Christmas, and the
usual cheap toy fillers and candies from Walmart!

I love this! So much for keeping dad out of the easter candy! You had an excuse. http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif
I told my twins the other night that the easter bunny wasn't stopping by and I got MY EAR chewed off. They are nine and said no matter how old they get the Easter bunny better stop by.
My daughter did resurrection eggs one year at church for easter and that was really special. The last egg was empty symbolising the resurrection of Jesus.
But I think this year to have a little fun the kids are getting BUNNY POOP! (whoppers)
We all enjoy eating boiled colored eggs for breakfast on Easter and deviled eggs that night if any are left. I usually have to make 3 dozen.Edited by: countrygourmet

I too will be moving more away from candy, and focus on a toy or
something they really want, like a new video game.
I have 3 kids, 11, 14 and 17.
My 11 year old is the most health conscious</span>, and does pick better
choices without it being a big deal, but my 14 has high functioning
autism, and is not as easy to reason with on these things, so it
will be a balance, but definitely</span> less candy then they are use to.
This is the first year I could care less about candy, I've come along
way. I was addicted to the peeps though. Chocolate bunnies too.
But now that stuff just taste's</span> like junk to me, so if I ever do indulge</span>,
I will have to try some gourmet</span> candy instead.
I guess</span> have grown up, kids candy does not cut it for me anymore.
But I do enjoy the hard boiled eggs with sea salt, and yes, I have
brainwashed the kids on salts too!smileys/smiley20.gif
Happy Easter to all that celebrate</span> it.

I think in England we must just be a bit more low key about Easter as we would normally just give easter eggs or bunnies, some will roll boiled eggs down hillsides in races. The shcool children will usually decorate hard boiled eggs by painting the shells and maybe creating something from the egg, for example they may paint them to look like lady birds, or make them into spiders and add legs. The children usually have competitions in school to see who comes up with the best egg.smileys/smiley1.gif

Wow! A great variety of Easter goodies, I see! :)
My kids are 2 1/2 and 6. They will get 2 baskets each with a bunch of goodies. Doesn't take much to make them happy! They will get some candy, but I loaded them with other stuff to play with, too. May even go out and get a few more things today to squeeze in them - not too much more, though. :)
Happy Easter, everyone!! :)

I have 2 children and both baskets will have the same treats ~ chocolate covered marshmellows, jellybeans (startbursts of course), big white chocolate bunny, whopper eggs, bubble gum eggs and a juice box.
Now for their gift I gave my 2 year old a barbie doll, coloring books w/ crayons ( yeah I know but she loves to color ) and a princess dress up set
My son who is 11 received a basketball, a video game for Playstation 2.
Yep, Holidays get expensive around here....lol (not really I got off cheap this year)

Well my boys are 11 and 2 so a bit different for them both :)
My eldest has never been into candy much,I usually give him a ps2 game,a couple of books and something wwe.
My youngest is only 2 so just a cuddly toy and some haribo type sweets(he doesn't like choc).
I make Easter more of a crafts type celebration-we make things together, cakes, decorate eggs, paper chains etc.
And the kids love it more because they get mucky!
I do an easter egg hunt with coloured hardboiled eggs and cryptic clues for them :)
Also we teach them why we celebrate Easter and its true meaning.
P.S I eat all the choccy gifts they get given and don't want-yay!!!

Q: What do you call ten rabbits marching backwards?
A: A receding hareline.
Q: Why was the Easter Bunny so upset?
A: He was having a bad hare day!
Q: How do you catch a unique bunny?
A: UNIQUE UP ON IT!
Q: Where does Valentine's Day comes after Easter?
A: In the dictionary.
Q: Do you know how bunnies stay in shape?
A: Hareobics.
Q: What's the difference between a bunny and a lumberjack?
A: One chews and hops, the other hews and chops.
Q: What's long and stylish and full of cats?
A: The Easter Purrade!
Q: What happened when the Easter Bunny met the rabbit of his dreams?
A: They lived hoppily ever after!
Q: What do you call rabbits that marched in a long sweltering Easter parade?
A: Hot, cross bunnies.
Q: Where does the Easter Bunny go when he needs a new tail?
A: To a re-tail store!
Me so corny!

Do you all know about the chocolate bilby in Australia? The Bilby is an endangered marsupial that is so cute and has big ears like a bunny. Here in Australia, they sell them for Easter and a persentage goes to saving the bilby. Good idea. hey!smileys/smiley10.gif

Along with the treats and coloring books, I always got a dress my mom either made or bought. I'm continuing that tradition minus the candy. Candy makes my little one terribly cranky, so I substitute coloring books, toys, gum...things like that.

This easter I might do something totally wacky. I'd like to freak out my young children byre-filling their plastic egg shells(from last year)with their favorite nuts, raisins, grapes and baby carrots rather than jelly beans, m&ms orcandy corn. Anyone who complains will be referred to the Easter Bunnyhttp://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif

We don't do much in the way of candy for our little ones. My husbands family hosts a huge easter egg hunt every year. We end up with over 1000 eggs and 10 kids to split em! So, we buy from oriental trading. They have TONS of items that you can buy in bulk for very cheap prices! Kids just love all the cool things. I also buy from the for the school parties, so much cheaper this way! You can get stationery items, toys, and candy from there! For the younger ones we buy the Fisher Price Little People tubes that they set out at Target. Now that my older 2 are getting into girly stuff I buy them lip balms, nail polishes, and easter hand creams from my Avon company. They just love those sorts of things!Edited by: valaire

Wow....I guess I'm going to have to start thinking about that. Last year, ds was really too small to get the concept of an Easter Basket. I think that this year he'll end up with a couple of wooden toys!
Dh will be the one to get a bunch of chocolate...he and I are both totally addicted to dark chocolate. I usually get him Joseph Schmidt truffles...yum!

The Easter Bunny brings a basket with some little activity like stuff (I do not do candy, my kids are too little and they do not need the sugar).
Then the easter bunny hides eggs with money in them.
This year he will probably bring a princess doll for each girl to.

Hmmm... our children will find an Easter basket full of all kinds of sweet goodies, plastic eggs and a bunny (or some other stuffed animal!). Also, our Easter Bunny hides all the eggs in the middle of the night outside and sometimes in the house (if weather is bad) so that the kiddos can start hunting right away!

Since my little one doesn't eat chocolate or sweets( or I should say since I do not give her chocolate or sweets!) I will compensate by buying some toy bunnies. Edited by: Lea15

When my kids were younger, they always got a t-shirt in their favorite color or character. The girls got inexpensive jewelry, the boys got small cars, airplanes, trucks. Everyone got their favorite candy and maybe a stuffed animal. It was fun but now they are grown and have their own kids.

My children will find all sorts of goodies like chocolate, little trinkets and toys they like to play with. They love to hunt for the eggs we do it like three times. It is so much fun to watch your kids hunting for eggs. I think I have just as much fun as they do hiding the eggs and getting all the goodies for them. I think most of all just teaching them the real meaning of Easter this is also exciting.
These are truly memorable times with our kids-- So Enjoy it all!

Well, my kids are 11 and 18 but we still do easter basketssmileys/smiley1.gif
We usually do some candy (they love those cadbury eggs and the marshmallow peeps, so definitely those) and then I like to put in non-candy things like lip gloss, stickers, face mask treatments, nail polish-- stuff like that.
Actually this year we did something really fun. We were invited to an Easter party where there was a hunt for the kids and then one for the adults. Everyone brought eggs for the kids and for the adult hunt you paid a $5 entry fee and brought an egg (or eggs) worth $10. Some people just put cash inside their egg, or lotto tickets, or a paper saying what the prize was (I brought one of those "cocktails by Jen" sets). The eggs were hidden in some very interesting places (like car tailpipes for example) and the person who found the most eggs split the entry fee money with the host. It was a lot of fun!

Of course he brings some candy, but also art supplies or little games. In my daughters basket he puts "girlie" things (she's 7)like nail polish, lip gloss, Hannah Montana things. For the boy (he's 6) he gets some sporty stuff, or small Transformers. Whichever character he's into at that time. It changes so often! It depends on whatever Disney or Pixar movie he's seen last.

They will have an egg dyed by me with their name on it. This way they know who's basket it is. I hide their baskets for them to find in the morning.
Then there will be a big chocolate bunny, a few peeps, a few chocolate marshmallow eggs, pretty foiled chocolate eggs, and a handful of jelly beans.
Cause that's the way my momma has done it and her momma before her............
Another tradition of ours is boxing eggs!
