This is my first post here...but I've been reading and reading for several months now. I don't know why I waiting until now to post a question :-)

I would love some help for all of you women who seem to know what you're doing. I'm having a terrible time trying to decide between two different companies and I just can't figure it out on my own and I need some advice.

I know I need to find something that I enjoy. I have decided between two different companies and I'm just not sure which one is right for me. Both have pluses and minuses. I have been in contact with a person from each company too. So I know the good...but I want to hear the bad too. I know everyone is different andI shouldn't go by what everyone says but it's nice to hear it from other people too.

Whether you are with these two companies, or have been, or just know about them, could you please tell me the pluses and minuses from your point of view? It will give me a better idea of what the public thinks of these companies I think and which will be better to market.

oops, the two companies are Discovery Toys and Big Yellow Box. Thank you!

Hey Mandy...

I replied on the other thread, but have you tried to do a party for both companies? That might help you decide too!

I am a Director with BYB and I love Discovery Toys. My kids use them all of the time. I actually had a local gal I was working with who was in the same situation you were in. She couldn't decide between the companies.

I didn't try to convince her to join BYB because there are certainly pluses and minuses to both companies. DT has a LONG track-record of success...BYB is new. DT has a great reputation...BYB is backed by Crayola....those were just some of the things we discussed together.

Ultimately, I think it is important that you go with your gut. Whatdo youenjoy doing with your kids more? Crafting? Playing withtoys? What products would you enjoy selling more? What products would you like to have more of in your own home?

Anyway - I am glad you are discussing the options with consultants but also run your options byyour friends and family. They certainly won't have a vested interest inwhat you choose!

Good Luck!

Hi there! Ok, I'm an Educational Consultant with Discovery Toys. I'm not active right this second because I am getting a second business going and it's going faster than I expected BUT Discovery Toys is awesome. I'm not bashing Big Yellow Box because I know nothing about them at all. I have seen ladies here posting that are with them that are doing wonderfully.

What I liked about Discovery Toys is the variety of products they offer. Toys, books, games, even some craft projects. All educational and encouraging parents to take the time to actually play with their children. All backed by a lifetime guarantee. The support with my upline has been absolutely mind blowing and the support from the company is amazing as well. My drawback is where I live. When I get back going with Discovery Toys I'm going to have to take the school, daycare, and church route. Around here for some reason, women want to come to parties to treat themselves. I did a couple events with a school and an early learning center and those went wonderfully. They truly appreciated what Discovery Toys was offering. It's not that way everwhere. My upline has tremendous success with home parties as does most of her team. So, that's not a drawback to Discovery Toys, it's a drawback of rural, backwoods central Louisiana.

You asked for honesty so there it is, LOL. And it's really not anything reflecting on Discovery Toys at all. Just my particular location.

Is doing both a feasible option? From what I understand, Big Yellow Box is all crafting projects of some sort. I could very well be wrong so if I am I apologize. If not though, you'd have that to offer along with all the toys, games and books a child could want. Just a suggestion. I don't know if BYB has any non compete clauses or not.

Either way, you are enriching the lives of children. I think thats an amazing thing to do. I love Discovery Toys and would love to see you've chosen them but I'm partial, LOL.

Keep us posted.

I'm wit DT and had looked at BYB. I love DT because I can use the toys over and over again, they are educational, lifetime guarantee, I have many repeat customers with schools, area resource/headstart teachers, speech pathologists, etc. Also, there is a nice variety of products.

BYB is cool too. The reason I decided against it is because DT fit into what my kids would use more. I like crafts, but not on a daily or weekly basis, and I hate to clean up. So it wasn't me. But the crafts are very cool. I got the Vase kit for my neice and she loved it!

They are both great companies, with great reputations.

When it comes to it, would you rather play or do crafts? I'd just start with one, you can always add another later.

Follow your heart. Which biz fits in with your family or your passion more?

You've gotten some great advice here! It's a hard choice, but like everyone said...go with what works for you and your family. Go with what you think you could sell more of. Ask your friends, family and neighbors what they think. You should also host a party from each so you can see it in action and take it from there.

Good luck with your choice!

Ok so I am totally a kid persona nd I would say DT has an amazing track record for providing good quality toys. The name is well known and their products are wodnerful.

I love BYB though and actually considered joining it because I do see a lot of potential in the company but not in the sense of Home Parties, but in doing scout workshops, birthday parties and that type of thing. They are products that are consumable and people are always looking for another fun activity to do to.

Could you host a party for each company and see which one you like more?

Cindi has a good point - any chance you could host a party for each, or at least go to a party for each of them?

Being a BYB consultant myself, I have to also say that the Home Party business is booming for me. While I do many birthday parties, workshops, fairs, etc., the home party is by far the most successful. I've built up a solid customer base and have many reorders.

Whichever you chose, I wish you the best!
