I am having a hard time understanding what is needed to be done when looking for a work at home position! Every position I look in to requires "payment" of some type, and I know that we shouldnt have to pay to work for them if it is legitimate company.
I have 15+ years in the healthcare industry managing in billing/collections/cash divisions. I am looking for a job in data entry, data processing, and do not prefer customer service/phone. I am also interested in doing crafts.
Could someone please direct me in the area I need to be? I am a nervous wreck of scams, and just want to make sure I get off on the right track with your website. Thanks in advance for the help!!!

Jobs are posted here all the time that are legit. Companies like West, ACD Direct, Working Solutions, Alpine Access to just name a few.
I know with ACD and Alpine you have to pay for your own background check, think it is $45 dollars.

If you have medical billing experience I see WAH jobs for that all the time.
Collections are also advertised alot for WAHmers.

Honestly, it is hard to find non-phone work. Due diligence is definitely needed.
Check Careerbuilder, Monster, GenuineJobs and Craigslist.

Be aware of Cragslist postings though, some are scams, so you want to make sure you have a resume or a "feeler" letter with very little personal information on it. Most of the jobs I've gotten were on Craigslist, you just have to do your research.

Also, you can contact maybe your local health centers, hospitals, doctors' offices to see if you can do billing for them from home. You never know, you might luck out....good luck.

Legitimate work at home jobs should be free to apply for. Id be very cautious of anything that tries to charge an application/up front fee. Chances are, it's a scam.

I agree with Chellez76. Legit jobs are posted in this section of the forum and new ones are posted every day. I'd recommend searching though this section of the forum and apply for as many things as you can.

Good luck and hope you find something very soon.

Do NOT pay for any "job offers" that you find online as many of those are scams or biz ops in disguise. Your best bet is to pay attention to the wonderful jobs that are posted almost constantly on this forum by members and apply to ones that seem to be meeting other members' approval. Also, check out some of the long time stable jobs that are listed in this forum. There are plenty of them, though they may not always be hiring. If you're doing a search yourself in places such as craigslist or indeed, then I suggest searching the terms "telecommute," and "home-based" as those two generally bring up a fair amount of good jobs for me. And, remember, if something doesn't seem quite right, follow your gut and stay away. You can always ask about jobs you are unsure of here on the board. Hope that helps!
