I chose Discovery Toys because I wanted all the toys, and had friends who liked the products. I never planned it to become a business. The starter kit is low, with a deposit program and earn-your-kit free option.


But, none of that matters. What does matter, is what do you enjoy? What are your skills? What type of biz would make you want to get out there? Do you burn candles? Do you love to cook? Read? Play? Talk about sex?


Jewelry is hot. But you know what, I would not do well at it. I don't care if I could join for free. smileys/smiley36.gifI don't wear it. My kids would break it. It's not me. Now, I know someone else who is doing amazing! Making very good money. She loves the stuff.

Debbie is exactly right - you need to find something that YOU can excel at. I am the same way as Debbie, I don't wear jewelry, and would honestly dread having to sell it. I love what I do though with White Lily, especially because we have all natural products (this is a HUGE thing for me right now, and because I try to use natural body products, and prefer to burn natural candles, my entire house is a showroom for the products smileys/smiley4.gif)


I have two other party plan businesses that I focus on mainly online sales.

My suggestion to you is to narrow down the products to what you think you would do well with and what you like to use. Then from there narrow it down to the companies that offer those products, and then narrow it down to the company that fits your life and goals best. Some companies offer great commission rates, but poor hostess benefits, large minimums, restrictions on how you can sellor high quotas (and vice versa every way you look at it)...so check them all out!

I am sure there is a company out there that is perfect for you!

You are going to have a huge response to this so you'll know alot of the companies that exist but you can also do searches for "party plan companies" if you want to try and find some complete lists.


Just do your research and ask plenty of questions. We all want to help each other here and will support you however we can. One tip, don't freak over start up costs with any company. Just because one company may have an outrageous start up doesn't mean it's not worth it. And just because a company has FREE startup doesn't mean they are worth it either. So, don't let money be a factor in start up. Money should be a factor as far as what you will be making. If you fall in love with a company and know that it's the company for you, you'll do what it takes to start with them, even if it means saving for a couple months. If you feel it, go for it and do what you have to do to get in, wether it's free or costs $1000. Because when you do, you'll be glad you did and there will be no stopping you then.

I am with Northern Lights at Home. I chose this company initially because they are local (to me) and I wanted to get candles from some direct sales company other than Partylite, which was all I knew. After receiving the catalog I was so impressed with the products and the VERY reasonable prices I decided to sell. I got my kit before I had even smelled one of their candles! I had already been in the party plan business for several years and was not toally looking for a change at the time, but it turned out to be one of the best decisions I've made. While we're a smaller company, we're stable and growing rapidly! I am with Country Bunny Bath and Body and just celebrated my four year anniversary with them this past February. I chose CB in the beginning because I was spending way to much $$ in the mall and figured I might as well get paid to bathe. Since then I realized that this was something that I could really do and love, and that was important to me. I love what I do and I love that CB only requires us to do $300 every six months to stay active. This allows life to happen and you do not loose your business in the process. This was/is important to me as my husband is active duty military.
