....a piece of regular paper, folded up in thirds so its the size of an envelope, write on it and stick a stamp on it? Will the post office allow that? Just wanted to try an save some envelopes smileys/smiley2.gif!

Unless you seal the edges with tape, you may want to ask the post office to hand-cancel it so it doesn't get chewed up by the machine.

Yes you can do this without a problem. Just remember to use tape for the edge they don't like if you staple it.

I have sent out flyers this way before - I asked at the PO before doing it and the man told me when I fold to make sure the bottom is folded up last - so I did this and then just put a little tape on each end and a cute sticker in the middle of the fold on the back - later I thought why fold it this way?, but I have never gone back to ask LOL
I also receive flyers from foks folded the same way - advertising all sorts of things
