Does anyone do this? Is it a scam?
I've seen a few ebay jobs posted on freelancer sites, have bid on them, and have been contacted by the sellers. One is in Japan - one is in the US.
Before I get involved in this, I just want to fond out if it is a scam...
Any experiences / thoughts are much appreciated! :)

Ugh - after doing a bunch of research, I have found that it is likely a scam...

I was going to say that too. You set up the auction, the other person collects the money and is supposed to ship the product but never does, and you're the one left holding the bag. I'm sure there are some legit positions out there for helping big e-bay sellers. This is just one variation of what the scammers do though.
