Hi WHAM's!
I am an independent business partner with a company that supplies top restaurants and hotels around the world and has recently went direct to the consumer with their products. I will be attending a local festival in September and am looking for unique idea's to promote my business. These are some of the idea's I have come up with so far:
Literature and Business Cards - Obviously! :)
A Laptop showing the website
A few printed catalogs for the table
A small TV looping video's from the company
A sign in sheet with contact information
An "enter to win" contest; raffling off one of the businesses top items
A banner with our logo and website
Some food samples in crock pots, as well as a cooler showing how items are individually vacuum packed and sealed
What else are WHAM's that are involved with food companies doing when they attend shows?! I look forward to your suggestions!
Thanks!
~Gina

86 views and NO responses?!
There has to be other WHAM's in food based business that attend local craft fairs, festivals, events, etc!
Any tips would be greatly appreciated - I promise, I don't bite! :D

Maybe you're already doing what most do, and because of this, you left nothing for them to add. Looks like a pretty great list of 'to do's' to me. You should be commended! : )

I think you covered almost everything!
One thing that I do when attending a show is deciding what am I there to do? Sell, book or sponor? I am not sure exactly how your business works but for example for me.. I can sell a product but that is one sale to one person so I aim to book parties because that is how I will (and the best way) to reach future customers. But my main focus is to sponsor new team members- they are able to see the product, taste the product and learn first hand about the opportunity.
Also, I used to spend a lot of time doing drawings and collecting names but found that most people just wanted to win. So now, as I talk to people I ask them to fill out a slip. I find that if someone wants to hang around to chat and fill out a slip they are more interested. Or in place of a drawing I offer a "Event Special" if they book a party or join my team. That way I get the most out of my money. For everyone else, I use a sign up for mailing list.
The other thing I learned was that I am not a caterer- many people take advantage of us being in the food business. Whether it is people who repeatedly come to my table and eat everything, let their kids eat it all or events that want me there as their food person.
No matter the event I always try to find out if they have done it before, how many people are they expecting, what kind of advertising do they do, are their other home based businesses attending etc. And then I track my results so I know whether to do this again. I may give events another chance if I think that it has potential!
Good Luck!
