I have seen quite a few messages about having drawing boxes around at local businesses. I'd like to know what is a drawing box? What do you use as a box? Is there something you have to purchase from somewhere or are you able to use something from around the house?

How would I approach a business owner to see if they'd let me put a box there? Do I have to use one of their products to give as a prize? (ex: if I go to an area massage therapist, would my drawing have to be for a free 30 min massage?) I just don't understand how to ask someone to let me promote myself and to profit from using their business and not really offer them anything.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Depending on the business you choose determines the type of box. I put a flyer in a pretty picture frame and then use one of the glass potpouri/fish bowls from walmart costs about a dollar. This is my most popular as it looks elegant with a bow around the neck of the bowl.

I finally put a drawing box atthe thirdbridal shop I called. One of them I called only allow you to leave your business cards. The second one said she would but she has been with BC for 20 years! (just my luck)smileys/smiley36.gifThe third bridal shop said yes right away. I justasked them if I could put a drawing box at their business. If you feel you need to offer them something, you could always offer them a gift certificate or give them an office spa break.

I took a box that I had from my digital camera. I didn't want anything to large because they were putting it on top of their display case. I wrapped it in pink paper and put a bow on it. I also printed out the bridal spa e-card and put it in a gold frame. Since I didn't have much room that's about all I could do. I also left some of my cards.

I am going to check it Monday. Hopefully there will be a good response. They said they usually get a really big response to drawings like this.

I like the idea of bridal shops! I was planning to "cold call" nail salons and a tanning place near me. I think that a drawing box would be a great thing to have with me for that purpose. I was having a hard time with the idea of cold calling, although I do have the minerals to sample. It gives you more of a reason to be there, when someone looks at you and says "may I help you?". I am suddenly so intimadated when they acknowledge me.smileys/smiley5.gif

So, those are other ideas of places to leave the boxes. Someone in my unit had decorated a plain white gift bag with a flyer from FOF, and some fringe, etc. Inside she had the form for them to fill out. Maybe you could create a pocket to hang inside the bag that would hold the entries. I have seen these type of "boxes" with a free make over for every entry.

Let us know how the bridal shop turns out! I will have to get my boxes together to put out next week! Thanks for the idea.smileys/smiley17.gif
