I have a hard time finding leads too. It seems like the more I spend the less "real" people I get. Do any of your companies provide leads for you? I mean is there some company out there that will actually share thier leads??

Hi Lisa,

I find that there is more to the success of online ads than where they are... the wording can also make a HUGE difference. Let's say I have two ads, Ad "A" and Ad "B." Ad "A" may be a huge success in one place but a total flop at another location. But if I use Ad "B" at the location where Ad "A" flopped, I might get a great response. So my advice to you is this... determine your target market, then figure out where your target market hangs out. Write an ad that will specifically attract people within that specific group. You may have to try a series of different wording at different locations before you find one or two that work well for you. In all online advertising, I highly recommend AGAINST pay-per-click advertising... there are too many unscrupulous competitors out there that will click on your ad over and over again just for the sake of increasing the cost to you in the hopes of driving you out. Sad to say, but it's a fact of life. smileys/smiley13.gif

That said, I still find that offline advertising has a higher overallsuccess rate than online advertising. Don't count online out altogether, but I find it bestto place the bulk of your advertising dollars in offline ads.

Kris -

Based on your post, I have a sneaking suspicion that you're referring to purchasing leads as opposed to placing ads. Am I right? If so, I recommend that you set up your own lead-collection system that is specific to your business rather than purchasing names from companies that may or may not have collected those contacts honestly. Anytime someone has expressed interest specifically in YOUR business, the chances of them following through increase dramatically. Another way to greatly increase your positive response rate is to use the phone instead of e-mail whenever possible. I don't know what your business is, but in sales of any kind, developing a relationship with prospective customers AND prospective business associates is key. And getting to know someone is far easier over the phone than it is across the internet. smileys/smiley1.gif

And yes, there ARE companies out there that share their leads. The company I represent, Home & Garden Party, distributes all the leads that come in to the company on to their Designers!

Best of luck to both of you!

Blessings,

Christy

Thanks to all of you.

I've had online ads before but got bad people out of them. People who don't understand the "party plan" vs internet marketing. I seemed to only find people who wanted to have a website, sit back and let the orders roll in. And I'm sure those who have great websites with this option know that just sitting back and doing nothing isn't what they do to keep it going. So, I discontinued my ads.

That said, we now have online ordering and while it's not anywhere near as lucrative as a party for me or them (it's supposed to help people get our products easily - if they aren't near a presenter - and decide they want to sell), I thought maybe getting people to my site somehow again would be beneficial. I'm still checking places out an mulling over just how much I'd like to do with it. I hate to put the money into those ads again to end up with nothing like last time I tried.

Thanks again for the input!smileys/smiley4.gif
