What other party plans do Children's birthday parties? My son who will be 6 doesn't care for stuffed animals - so stuff a friend won't work. Are there any others out there that do child partiesand just charge by child so they each get a game to take home?.
I also thought about renting one of those bouncers, but what if it rains?

You could try Big Yellow Box if he's crafty.
Do Re Me & You if he's musical.
I have done some Discovery Toys parties, where I supply the games, and then parents buy off the kids wish list. So playful parties.
If he's sciency, make a volcano and let the kids make Gak (pretty easy to do). Not a home based biz, but easy to do.
What's he into?

There is a home business company called The Purple Hippo and they do kids birthday parties!! I know there's a lady on here who is a rep for them. (StuffinFriends is her screen name). She's nice and I'm sure she could give you more info. I don't know much since I'm not a rep for them.

Usborne has several kid kits- they are a book that comes with an activity. Some popular ones for boys are pirate things to make and do, dinosaur excavation kid kit, flying fun kit (comes with 4 pop out model airplanes), volcanoes kid kit(if you are brave! lol) racing cars kit kit...and more.
You can see them on my site- www.readingcanbefun.com (http://www.readingcanbefun.com) PM me if you would like more info!
Have fun!

Like Debbie said(thanks, Deb!), Big Yellow Box is a great option for
birthday parties! You can preorder the craft kits for the kids to
do at the party. The crafts keep them occupied during the party
and then they have a really cool(and functional) craft to take
home. Some of the most popular crafts for boys birthday parties
include our "paint your own" gum ball machine, a Star shaped pillow to
decorate with fabric markers, a "paint your own" bird feeder, a "paint
your own" soccer ball, and many others. Let me know if you would
like more info on our creative birthday ideas!

Hey Debra,
I've been putting together a flyer that I hand out to parents about birthday parties, making them more meaningful to children.
One idea is to have each child bring a toy, book, or both that they no longer play with but is still in good shape for the birthday boy/girl to collect and give to a children's shelter. Teaching giving back, especially on a special day like their birthday, can be very rewarding. They feel so proud that they're helping other kids!
You might be aware of this one but another idea to make a birthday more special is to decorate two chairs, one for the birthday boy/girl and the other for the gift giver. When its their turn to present their gift, they sit in the chair and hand it to the birthday boy/girl. It makes gifts more personal and the child can explain why they chose that gift for them (because they love dinosaurs, etc). They're more likely to remember who gave them what rather than just tearing open gift after gift.
If you get some of the activity books from Usborne, a nice idea is to have the kids create drawings, paintings, or cards and stick them inside the book or with the toy they donated saying how much they enjoyed that toy or book and how they hope the receiverwill like it too. It makes it easier to visualize that the toys are going to a realchild.
