I have been looking and applying for a work at home job for a year now. I have been all over these boards and sent my resume to multiple companies and I've not had any luck. I could understand if I had not experience, but I have quite a bit of experience at all the jobs I've applied for.
I heard about Alpine Access and I thought finally I might get this job...I didn't even get that job.
I'm sorry for venting.
Does anyone know if any jobs? I do transcription, customer services, anything computer related really.

Most of the jobs I did previously had a wait list before I got hired. I know you said you had been trying for over a year, some may just have you on a wait list still.
Some of mine were West at Home- was on a wait list for 6 months before I got hired. Another was Quicktate- was on a wait list for about 3 months before I got hired. Organized Wisdom- was on a wait list for about 2 months before I got hired.
It can be really frustrating especially when you need a job to have to keep waiting. Dont give up! Try sending out some follow up inquiries to the places you have applied at, if you havent already. Even if you have it may not hurt to even send another.
Just hang in there, you may be on some waiting lists and when you least expect it they will contact you about a position :)

Sorry to hear you've been looking for so long. There are lots of positions listed in this section of the forum and new ones are posted every day. Just keep looking and applying, and hopefully something will come through soon.

it's ok to vent. Looking for work and not getting offers is very frustrating, so what I recommend is to figure out what went wrong, and what can make you a better candidate. Ask yourself why do I think Alpine turned me down? Are your skills rusty (practice your web navigation, computer skills, etc), were you nervous in the interview (rehearse w/a friend), do you have all the necessary equipment (necessary computer memory, speed, phone/internet connections). How's your speaking voice (practice recording and listening to yourself). Were there background noises during your interview? Is credit check an issue, if so move on to jobs not requiring one. Its very easy to get down when getting rejection after rejection, but we have to be careful that this does not come through in an interview, we must be positive and upbeat at all times. This is what an employer wants. Try to focus on making yourself a better candidate. Then keep applying. Best wishes to you.

Everyone here gave really good advice on what may be the problem you are facing. I know it can be difficult trying to find a job online, finding a job and then not getting hired and trying to move to the next best thing. I have been there too and most people in this forum have been there...that's why we can relate.
My first job ever, was VIPdesk. Maybe you should give them a shot...you probably already have. I remember some of the interview questions that they asked me so maybe I can help you out with that. Just let me know if you are going to apply and maybe I can help you through the process.
Good luck!

I don't know what the problem is. Are you looking for employee work or independent contractor work? Some companies sometimes post here, especially in the Transcription folder. There are some good companies hiring for IC transcriptionists with superior grammar, punctuation, spelling, and proofreading skills. Are you using targeted cover letter emails and is your resume targeted to each type of work for which you apply? Make sure you are proofreading everything you send out. Since potential employers may visit the forum, make sure your posts present a good impression as well.

If you do transcription work, you should have no problem getting on with Quicktate or Call Graph. You can also get on Mturk without applying, you just sign up and start taking work. It's piece work. There's also Odesk.
If you're an experienced transcriptionist, there are a ton of companies out there to apply to and test for.
Maybe you just haven't been looking in the right place. I also have a wah list I can email you. PM me with your email address if you would like it.

Yes, everything seems to be covered quite well in advice here. The only other thing is maybe
have someone check over your resume.
Good luck to you and don't give up!

Keep your head up and don't give up the right job will come along, and if it makes you feel a little better I did my research on Alpine and they don't have good reviews from current or old employees. So you may have been saved a headache, but the right job will come and it will come just in time! Good Luck!

Most companies want to hear that you have an open availability. You may also want to look at the desired income because if it is too high for the industry average this can derail your application. Consider applying for a job a full-time job and consider taking a job that you normally would not take for resume and money purposes.

Hi--all great advise!
I list over 5 pages of jobs in the inbound Call Center category (along with multiple other categories--including transcription) and one company there, called Xact Services, does respond within 72 hours. Worth checking into.
Wishing you all the best,
Annie
