I work for 2 of the companies... the only 2 I know of online and ALL of the programs within those 2 companies require atleast a bachelor's degree. MOST of the programs that I score on a regular basis that allow me 40+ hours a week require a master's AND teaching experience. It's so hard to get on with these companies as it is, I just don't see them lower their hiring standards anytime in the future. Good luck!

I think you are right. I have a Bachelor's and tried multiple times to get on, but I can't. I also have 7 years experience teaching... but at the PreK level. I think they look for scorers who have experience at the secondary level teaching higher subjects too.

Just wondering, what are these scorer jobs? Where are they? Can they be done through telecommuting? Thanks.

Why would the companies in question hire people without any qualifications? Scoring responses isn't the sort of unskilled Walmartesque job that any idiot can do. These are serious tests where the results can have a profound impact on someone's life. As a mom I most certainly would not want anyone who has not gone through a rigorous screening process anywhere near my child's test responses.

A college degree is a fairly reasonable indication that a person has mastered fundamental skills such as reading and writing. Teaching experience indicates they know at least something about educational theory and how knowledge is conveyed. Requiring such qualifications is more than reasonable.

Any company that does not require applicants to have at least a bachelor's degree to even apply for such work is doing students a grave disservice.

I am not sure what a scorer is, haven't really looked into that field, but I know some tutoring services don't always require a degree, like tutor.com, but you must be in progress toward your degree. Though I agree that you should have some sort of degree when in the teaching field even online, when it comes to the tutoring field then I'm on the fence on that one. I'm in school right now to earn by degree to be a teacher. I want to teach High School Biology. Just last semester though I had to teach my math teacher a few tricks on math that even he didn't know cause I'm pretty good at math. I even tutored students who were having trouble in math and they said I was great. So, I guess it all depends on the job.
