Hi Everyone,
I am starting at CTU online for associates in Medical billing and coding. I am taking this step because I have always wanted to do this and I have never been to college. Now I know it's a 18 month program and I got all my financial aid approved with FAFSA. So I guess my question is, anyone have any advice to give me? Like what kind of jobs are available working from home and do you have to work in a office once get certified and all that or can you find companies that will hire you once you graduate? Can you get a job with Medical Transcription with this sort of degree? I can type about 70 wpm as of now.
Any advice is appreciated.
thanks,
Lisa

You will not learn medical transcription thru a billing/coding degree. You would need to take a few extra classes. You can expect to work 3 years onsite at a hospital and you must be certified to find a company that will hire you for a remote coding position. Remote positions are hard to find as many other people are looking for those positions. Billing is completely different than coding and a I am not sure about how you would find a remote position for that.

I actually changed my degree and way of thinking because I like transcription so much. I was going to do the medical billing and coding route. Now i'm going to do the Medical transcription route instead.
