View Full Version : Can’t sleep

Hello Ladies,

I can't sleep. I have a big day tomorrow. I am taking a very close friend to his doctors appointment to hear all the news about the cancer they found in his pancreas. And the odd part is that it's not the news that has me up. It's the change in perspective that I have now.

My company is in a very exciting time right now with our kits shipping in a few weeks and our party processing system going live in just a few weeks after that. I have been really focused on it and putting every minute into it. My excitement hasn't wained and I still know without a doubt that this is going to terrific, as a matter of fact, I have an even bigger appreciation. My focus has shifted though. I am now so much focused on the women in and out of my company that I have had the pleasure to meet. My own financial success seems secondary to chance to help as many other people be successful and happy as I can. Not that I haven't really enjoyed helping other all along, it's just that I can really see how just a small bit of help or encouragement can make a huge difference to others.

I don't know if anyone understands that or not. LOL I don't really get it myself. LOL That's why I'm up now. All I know is that it seems my whole prespective has shifted. And even though this is terrible news, it's been a blessing to me that I can have that change of perspective.

Ok....it's late, I'm worried and I am probably making no sense. I just know that there are some great and caring women here and I felt like I needed to share. smileys/smiley9.gif

Thanks for reading,
Brenda P.

Thanks, my prayers go out to your friend. I wish you good news today.

I know what you are talking about when it comes to helping women though. I love helping others and showing them how direct sales can help them financially. Maybe you're experiencing it at a different level than I am now though. Keep that perspective and you'll reap the rewards - not just financially but emotionally. I truly believe that things happen in life for a reason. Although we may not understand the reason at the time in the long run the big picture will appear to us.smileys/smiley31.gifEdited by: tamralynn

I can relate. My team is often what keeps me going when my life is crazy. I'm more excited over their success the my own. And I have learned so much about myself and grown through meeting these fabulous women.

Prayers to your friend!

You are beautiful,

Debbie

You will be a great leader.....because to be one, you have to truly care about your team and their successes.

I was with Mary Kay for 3 years and was blessed to have one of the most outstanding directors in all of MK (IMO!!) She has been in MK 25 years, earned the pink caddy and truly believes that she is changing lives and that is what is most important. I've been involved with a few DS companies over the years, and have never met anyone in management quite like her....the feeling you are having now reminded me so much of her, I just had to tell you that I believe you are destined for big things, provided you keep that attitude.

I wish you all the best in your new busienss and prayers are going out to your friend as well.

Brenda,

Our hearts go out to your friend and blessings for a new attitude. I was in business for a year before the true calling was slammed into the back of my head. I was originally in it for just my own gratification, but once I saw hostesses cry over the $350 in product they received for free to give as xmas gifts, or the new consultant not even in my downline that I coached to her first $1000 party...it's rewarding to know that people appreciate your help and can trust your advise...you'll do great! Just remember, It's your job to share, it's their right to choose...I like to add that there are those of us gifted with the great talents to initiate and follow-up. For most of us, we're only good at one or the other. It's good to start focusing now on which one you need more work on...keep us posted on how your initial bookings go.

Hi Brenda,

Hope things went well with your friend today. One of the nicest things that working from home gives us is the chance to re-arrange our schedules to help a friend. I quit my job in January because of circumstances there. I am trying to get unemployment,so that means I have to look for work. So I went out job hunting. Didn't take long to realize that I wasn't going to find a job that gave me the flexibility to do the important things like taking my aging parents to their doctor appointments, or babysitting a friend's little one so she could have some alone time, or sew costumes all afternoon for a church play.

WAH - however you choose to do it - is a gift! And I'm not talking about theincome potential(the part you hear about first and loudest). I am most grateful for the wonderful opportunity to be available for those who need us. What a gift to them, and what a gift to ourselves! More than anything - more than money or fame or a new car or even a free company trip! - I want to be available to become immersed in the parts of life that are most important and lasting. When we die, we can't take the car or house or money with us. And at times like your friend is enduring now, those things seem so trivial. What's not trivial - and what's lasting - is the gift of your time and friendship. You'd want to do this if you had a full time job, but you probably wouldn't be free to do it.

When I think about why I'm thankful for this opportunity, the income potential is WAY down the list. What tops the list is that it allows me to be available to do the important things in life. Now I can say that my priorities are God and Family, not just with my words, but also with my life.

We are blessed! I for one am thankful!

Thank you everyone for your nice words and prayers. It was a long day and we still really have no answers.

He started his kemo treatment and gratefully he did not get sick. It's funny how the small things seem so big now. When we talked to the doctor he basically said that three things can happen. The kemo will be effective, in which case he will continue to do treatments until it goes away. It could stay the same which is really a good thing. They would assume that the kemo is helping because it didn't grow and they would try to find more effective treatments. And then of course, there is the option where the cancer continues to grow and that's when we start to think of quality of life and such.

We won't know what is going on for another 2 months. That's when they run more tests and see what has been happening. I think Bill will know before any of though. He seems to have known before the doctors told him anything. If the treatment is not working, then he has 6 to 10 months, but from my research, it will be more like 2 - 5 months.

My team and upline have been incredibly supportive through this and it just makes me sure that I am right where I am suppose to be right now. The best people are in direct sales!!!

Thanks everyone. You all have been great for listening and responding with such true and support posts.

Now...WHERE IS MY KIT!!!! smileys/smiley1.gif
