Sounds interesting but I see they are in India. That probably means the pay will be quite low by American standards. Keep us posted!

Well I did get a reply - not sure if its positive or not - but so far all they've said is:
Hi
We have received you mail and we will get in touch with you with more details shortly.
So - anyway - I will worry about my speed on this one. I have experience editing, but I don't rush through it. So I'm worried I won't meet their turnaround time. I have no idea how many words I can edit per day/per hour, etc. :)
I'll keep you posted with any updates!

They sent me an editing test -- I'll do it this evening and see if I meet their requirements. Pays about $1-$2 per 500 words edited. Not a problem - I will just love the experience this will give me! I'm still not sure how fast I can edit, but will try to focus more on quality than quantity. The money will come. (That's all assuming I am fast enough for their deadlines!) I just want the experience now. Wish me luck :)

Well,
I'm not sure how I feel about it, but I sent in the test.
Seems strange - the email is a gmail address (the human resources contact). Hmm...something just feels strange about it. And I've got several baby eggs - or egg possibilities LOL already right now, so whatever - we'll see what happens :)

I've been telecommuting f/t since 2005 and have found a number of legitimate companies that use gmail as they are known to have fairly high filtering standards - why do you find this strange?
btw - good luck, once you gain experience you'll find lots of writing gigs and you'll soon be on your way to the higher paying article writing/blogging gigs.

I got the test just now. I applied even though I don't have any editing skills. I am looking for something else to fit in with the other home jobs I do. Wish me luck because I could use the extra money and the experience too. :)

Hi - sorry I did not reply sooner. I took the test. They wrote back and said my edits were good but decided to go with someone who had more experience. That's ok - I have enough eggs right now to keep me busy. So all is good -
I wonder if someone on here got a position with them? That'd be good. If not, oh well - :)

Hi all:
I have been reading your posts for the past couple of days without comment, but today, I decided it was time to speak. I took the test, passed and was offered the position of work at home editor. Once they sent the work to me, I did a quick review and decided the pay was WAY too low for the amount of work involved. Because this is an Indian company, I knew the pay would be low, but in my opinion, I do not know how an editor in the U.S. or another country other than India could do the amount of work they require for so little pay. As a result, I sent an email to the HR person and told her I could not proceed with this position for so little pay. I also told her that IF the company decided to pay editors a decent amount that she could contact me again. I heard nothing back.

So you wasted the company's time and then sent them a complaint about their rates, which were made clear in the ad? Not professional at all! If you didn't like the rates you shouldn't have applied and taken the test.

Have you checked your spam folder? If so you might want to send an email to them and politely inquire about your status. Good luck! :)

I didn't waste the company's time; I wasted MY time. Editing tests are generally far more complex than the actual work. In this case, the test and actual work were the same. Because I am a professional editor and have been for many years, I refuse to work for little to no money. I already have another editing job so I was just looking for something extra. Sorry if my post offended you, but I think I am entitled to my opinion.

The rates were clearly stated up front-if you thought they were too low why did you apply and take the test in the first place?

As I said in my previous post, an editing test is often more complex than the actual work involved; therefore, I took the test and passed. Once I received the actual work, it was equally complex and time consuming, and I did not think the time and effort required to do it was worth the pay. It's that simple. I already have another job that pays extremely well so I chose not to pursue this one because it was not worth it to me. However, for those who do not have other work or wish to get some experience, I say go for it. It was not something I wished to pursue any further.

I took the tests and it is quite clear that the articles are not written from a person whos first language is English. We would basically have to rewrite everything from scratch.

Over the years I've come across several jobs where once I started doing the work were quite different from the job description I applied for - I might be willing to Job A for less money but not the more demanding Job B
