I'm working on my team newsletter, and working on some info about recruiting. I am curious, beyond the money aspect of recruiting, why do you recruit? (feel free to reply even if you haven't had gotten any recruits, but are trying)

It is great to have someone you know to bounce ideas off of. I like having a team member close by so if an emergency comes up, or a date conflict, I have someone who can cover a scheduled party rather than have to re-book. I have had team members be short of catalogs at the last minute, and was able to lend them some of mine. It gives me someone to work booth events with (and share the associated costs). And...I am going to be able to split my hotel cost at conference because I have at least one team member joining me.
Looking forward to reading other people's responses!

Great reasons! You had a few I hadn't even thought of, as we all know everyone has different reasons. :)
This should be interesting. :)

I recruit because I love coming alongside and helping guide my team members to reach their goals. It is a huge high when they meet the income goal they were working toward, overcome an obstacle we were working on together, earn an incentive they wanted and when you see the amazing personal growth that both they and you achieve through the mentoring. Because for me what starts as a new team member usually becomes a friend and I honestly love seeing them happy with their achievements.
Best wishes on your newsletter!

I would have to say watching a person do something they enjoy, helping someone who may need personal encouragement (In my last company I managed to sponsor people who were having personal crisis' and the friendships that developed were encouraging to both of us!) and watching them succeeding in reaching their goals is quite a high.... and all of the above mentioned reasons!

I've had a GREAT life due in large part to my choosing a career in direct sales.
My hope is through recruiting, training and supporting my team members, they can experience some of those wonderful things as well.

Because I have been in a "new recruits" shoes. The excitement, the uncertainty, the sheer anticipation of what's to come. I too have had many different experiences with direct sales...the ups and downs, highs and lows. I love direct sales and the scheduling freedoms and the income freedom it offers. I also sincerely embrace the saying that you are in business for yourself, but not by yourself. I enjoy helping others and bringing life experiences to offer my team members.
I also know what it can feel like with certain leaders. I have learned from being with other direct sales companies what it is like to not be heard, to not be appreciated and to not be considered worthy, and I would NEVER do that to my people! A good leader needs to encourage and inspire; to console and actually listen to their "downline". Not all leaders are like this, of course, but I have seen many who are ;).

I agree with Jennifer- I have been able to have and do lots of things I want because of DS - I think it is great to offer that to someone else.
Aside from that, I have met some amazing people and have made some great friends and I get to travel.
Who wouldn't want to do this for a living?!!? :-)

I recruit because I love sharing the excitement with them. It keeps me excited about my business and helps me move forward too. I like having someone to be accountable for and also to make great friends with. I am hoping to build a team that is local to me so I can share event responsibilities with and to provide a local team meeting. I love partnering with people who I love and want to see succeed and grow. There are so many reasons!

No recruits yet...but I would love to sponsor someone because I would love to make new friends. We aren't from the area that we live in, and I would love to meet new people. Also, as a teacher, I love to mentor people and watching them grow.

Recruiting or building a "Team" is the only way to duplicate your efforts and grow your business to the next level. This is not to say that you cannot be successful without this element. It just depends on our own personal goals and satisfaction.
I like the term of building a 'team' - because the word itself says a lot.
Some points as to why I enjoy building a team (recruiting):
Duplicating your efforts through team members
Sharing something you believe in with others
Mentoring - helping others achieve their goals (teaching)
Building lasting relationships - friendships
Aside from shop talk/business, networking with others is so rewarding in many ways. One in particular that I do want to highlight though is the friendships you develope. That alone is priceless~ :)
