I have been reading some of the archives here and would love to hear more about how some of you present/promote the host of a presentation building up sales to get her rsvp.
If I would like to present this as an option to a host should I explain it ahead of time when I am meeting with her before the party?
If you do this, do you charge the host shipping and $29 fee for the rsvp?
And, I'm not clear on how this can be done if guests want to sign up as well for a discount. What is your verbage for letting guests know that they can get the discount by becoming a consultantbut will be expected to host a party?
Can anyone give mesome details and/or scenarios of this situation and howI would place the order?
I am finally having my launch this weekend and am really nervous!!!! It is at my sil's house and there will bepeople I've never met there so am already feeling stage fright!
ALSO,
I plan to offer the SSS to hostess (or a certificate for one, since I don't have any at the moment) and offering her $100 for FREE as Beverly does....I love that!!! And with this being my launch, I REALLY want to bookparties from this and give GREAT incentives forothers to book!!
Any other ideas? I don't want to be losing a ton of money, but should I give something for booking a party? Maybe a small discount tonight if you book a party?
I am having a spa party with facials/foot soaks. I am also promoting the idea of a smoothie bar patio party (indoors or out) to focus on F8.
Thanks for any and all advice and support!

Carrie, it's against policy to pay for anyone's $29 sign on fee, so she would definitely have to pay that.
when I did a lot of parties, I would try to offer the RSVP, but in my opinion it makes it too complicated and anyone who may be watching you who is thinking about this as a business, it won't appeal to them if it looks complicated and difficult, you want it to be as SIMPLE as possible, so anyone watching you can think, "hey, I can do that too!"

I printed up little book to look coupons on business card paper, you know, the pre-perforated kind. ON the back I had name:, phone:, and date booked: to fill in with that info. On the front I made a variety of coupons--"BOOK A CLASS AND..." get 15% off whole order, get 35% off most expensive item, get 20% off a set special, get a free gift (a small foot cream or something like that) I put them inside small envelopes and wrote BOOK TO LOOK on the front. After they made their order and decision to book, they got to pick one envelope and apply that to their order.
About the RSVP, I agree with Cassandra, it gets complicated and overwhelming. If they just get the hostess specials, that is still a great offer. If they choose to sign up, they can do the RSVP in the first or second month, so often it is better to hold off a little until they have used some products and want more!!! Which they will!
That is how I got into Arbonne myself. I ordered the minimum $100 to get a free product, but all month I thought about other things I wanted, and told friends/family who weren't at the party about it. I had about $200 more in products I wanted, and convinced my Mother in law and mom and a friend to get a few things and they added it to over the $400 mark. So they paid the full $200 for their stuff, and I got $500 more for $150.
You can always re figure after the party, too, and see if it works out better to do it as an RSVP depending on the orders. I have done that before, when class sales have gotten to like $400 and no one signed up, I offer it to the hostess as a different way of doing it if she is willing to sign up.
GOOD LUCK! Your party sounds fun, I wish I could be there!

Hi Carrie~
I agree with Cassandra...the more simple the better. If people get confused or overwhelmed, they say no...to anything!
I'm SO excited for your launch and I know that you are going to do GREAT! smileys/smiley32.gifYou love the products so just let your passion shine through...that is what really makes people interested in the business and the oppotunity. Everyone loves passionate people!
It's okay to tell people that you are nervous or to admit if you don't have the answers to every question they ask...they will appreciate that you are human and that you have a business they can easily duplicate!
What date is your party scheduled for?? I wouldfly out andcheer you on if I could!!!!

Hey Carrie! I have a party tomorrow night and I REALLY need bookings, so I have been trying to figure out what is the booking magic trick too!!
About the RSVP, it has already been said, but I just stick w/ the hostess benefit. Sometimes, the party has $350 in retail orders, so at that time, I would offer the rsvp option, which is a nice surprise to the hostess. What I have been doing also though, is announcing at my parties about how anyone can earn $350 in free product for $29 if they collect $350 in outside orders, like a catalog party. This is great for those who do not want to host a party, but don't mind passing around a catalog. I also do this for all the promotions - sell $250, get $100 free (I just use some of my retail profit to cover the $20 cost), or earn the RE9 body set for free if they collect a $150 order. This is also a great incentive to offer hostesses before their parties to get the ball rolling.
Are you still wondering how to gift your hostess if everyone, or even some, open their own account? If so, let me know. I have a document I will send you explaining how I do this and still keep the hostess and guest happy! Best of luck Carrie!!
p.s. No, I didn't get to test drive. I was snowed in w/ 2 sick kids and my hubby out of town. How was it???Edited by: bbrown1226

Thanks SO much everyone! I truly appreciate all the great advice and ideas!
Yes, thanks for the reminder to keep things very simple so others will realize that they can do it to!
I will use your idea Anet, with the book to look envelopes, thank you!
I have index cards and just hope I am not looking at them to often!!
Thanks Cindi, I know, I shouldn't worry and I will tell them all that this is my FIRST event and just to bear with me because I just know they will LOVE everything they try!!
Barbara, I love your idea mentioning the outside sales, I think I will do that! I would love a copy of that document you mentioned! Do you still have my email add? Ya, I almost missed the Mercedes event, I got there in the last 15 minutes before they closed so got to see the cars and speak to a real nice salesman. He took several photos of me with the cars and gave me a couple of brochures.I now have a large fold out picture of "my" car right over my desk! Sorry to hear the kids were sick, that stinks :0( We just went through that 2 weeks ago.
Always happy to hear more tips, tricks, ideas etc!!

Hey Carrie~
Another idea: if you tell them up front that this is your first show, ask them if they wouldn't mind helping you get better...you could pass out 3x5 cards or something with places for them to write "name, email, phone number, would you be interested in hosting a show, etc" and ask them to fill out the back with things they loves about the party and things they didn't. People will really want to help you and I don't think you need to offer a gift or anything for doing it.
Just a thought. It will help you improve your future parties plus maybe book some future shows :D

You can offer to pay for 1/2 of their $29.00 sign up fee. Make sure to tell them that they're actually a consultant, entitling them to the same 35% discount that you enjoy, so you can then ask them to give you a referral or host a class, since you're offering them the discount.

I didn't think we were allowed to pay the sign up fee. I mean, if it comes down to particulars, you could make them pay the fee, but offer them $30 in free product but technically, they have to do their own sign up and pay their own fee. To make sure people aren't signing up fake people to get bonuses, etc.

Actually my NVP told us we could pay 1/2! smileys/smiley2.gif

That is so strange to have an NVP tell you that you can do something that the P&P manual clearly says that you can't do...I don't get it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! smileys/smiley5.gifsmileys/smiley1.gif

I agree Cindi.
I just got a huge email from my VP about how they are cracking down on ethics, and we are not even allowed to enter in the people's info on the computer anymore. We can sit by them and talk them through it, but they have to read and initial to make sure they understand they are becoming, for all intents and purposes, a consultant. We were told to stop using the term wholesale buyer, as people have complained they were misled and tricked into becoming consultants.
I even met someone at a baby shower last week that found out I was an Arbonne person adn she complained to me about one of her friends being 'tricked' into signing up and she is ticked off about it. So she is telling all her friends to not deal with Arbonne anymore. I tried to explain that is what happens if you want to sign up for the discount, and she said, well the consultant never explained that and just signed her up without permission.
So we have to be super careful to not give Arbonne a bad name. This person was already prejudiced against me because of that experience. It needs to be a level playing field with everyone abiding by the same rules, IMO.

I agree with you all too, however, I'm just going by what my NVP said! She honestly said to offer to pay 1/2!! How can Iquestion her, as an NVP? I am not saying I'd personally do it, however.
She also told me that Ar*****wants us to explain that recruits are joining our team when they sign up and they can decide to build a biz. or not. They will either way, still be eligible for the 35% discount!Edited by: alldeckedout

You can question her the same way I questioned my VP when she told me it was smart to put orders in under the numbers of people under me to help them build and me build at the same time, and allow me to get 4% (this was before I was DM). I said "isn't that against policy?" and she said "You are the second person to say that to me this week, I will have to look up that manual again" Her NVP trained her that way and she never questioned it. Sure enough, she called back and said "wow, you were right, we will have to retrain on this issue"
