Hello bren33,

I, too, am interested in doing medical billing from home. It requires that you have training at an approved school. Have you checked out the medical billing/coding folder here at wahm.com yet? It is a GREAT source for information and the people there are very nice and helpful. Go to the page listing all the different categores and you will find it.

I wish you nothing but the best!!

Pam

I owned and operated a medical billing and collections business from my home office for over 12 years.

At one point I had over 20 doctors and hired 5 people, that became to stressful, for the past 8 years I worked for just one doctor and it was more profitable and less stress.

The doctor decided to sell his practice and retire. Now I work part time for an Ophthalmologist at his office.

The way I began my career as a medical biller was to sell medical billing software to doctors. I took a lot of courses in medical billing, and had a good list of potential clients, I had to train their staff on billing using our software.

To be a medical biller and gain the trust of doctors putting their livelihood in your hands you better know how to bill insurance companies, know Hippa rules, learn how to use billing software, over the years I had to attend seminars run by Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross and had to constantly learn new rules as they change constantly.

It is NOT easy getting clients.
