It's not even the credit check that is stopping me its the darn landline phone.

can't help w/the credit check, but w/landline phone, depending on how u do your taxes it could be a busienss expense. Just a thought? For FT might be worth it, but probably not for PT

Another company that uses credit checks to discriminate against people. I heard Congress is trying to outlaw that practice and I hope they do!

BerryWriter the bill certainly was introduced but is another that has been stalled due to donations to our "representatives". You can write to your representative and tell him/her you want this pushed through. In these economic times credit scores are bound to get worse. About 60% of potential employers check credit now.

My obstacle at this point is location because like so many others CA is not on the list due to minimum wage laws. If something does not give soon, credit will also be a major factor. The hunt continues...

I have started the process with Alpine several months ago, but never heard from anyone after doing the recorded phone portion of the application process. I just tried logging in and even resetting my password, but it isn't finding my email address.
