View Full Version : New and Looking

Hello Everyone! I am pretty new to the party plan thing (I've been working from home with a MLM-type company for a while, but am getting burnt out).

I have been looking at everyone's signatures and I can't believe how many party-plan companies there are!!

I thought if I explained to you 'experts' what I'm looking for, you might be able to point me in the right direction.

I am, like I said, new to the party-plan. I was able to work online with my former co so I would like a party plan that will allow you to market online. I would also like to do fundraisers (I am thinking maybe something kid-oriented so I can work with daycares, schools, hospitals, etc).

I don't want to have to carry an inventory. And, I'd rather work with a company that is really beneficial to people. I mean, no offense, but I really don't see a big difference between Avon, Mary Kay, and Maybelline. I would like to work with a company that has something other party plans don't have, and has something people can't get from WalMart. I hope that makes sense....

Thanks for listening... if you have any suggestions, please pm me or reply to this thread. smileys/smiley1.gif

Hi and welcome to the party plan board!! You are going to get a TON of replies! I am with lia sophia jewelry and we have high fashion jewelry that offers an unconditional lifetime replacement guarantee. You can offer fundraisers, direct orders or show orders with a hostess. There are so many benefits, but I don't want to bore you if your not interested in what we have to offer. You can view the entire catalog on-line at my website www.liasophia.com/alice (http://www.liasophia.com/alice) if after checking the jewelry out you are interested, shoot me an e-mail and I can send you more information. Good Luck with your search, you are going to have fun looking through everything!!

I'm very big about focusing on your passion. To me, if you love what you do, it helps you during those tough times. You remember the having fun part and it keeps you going. For me, I just play with my kids and am reinspired.

Of course since you said "kid-oriented" company, I have to suggest Discovery Toys. smileys/smiley36.gifI do a lot of work with daycares, and I know others who work with hospitals, non-profits, speech pathologists, schools, home school association, assisted living (help grandparents do shopping), to name a few.

There are other great companies out there to, it's just focusing on what you want. I love the toys because my kids are benefiting, our family is benefiting and I am benefiting.

Look around and email/pm anyone if something looks fun. We are all happy to help.

Hi snowbug

You're right there are a bunch of party plans out there and new ones popping up. Most have fundraiser plans. And there's a bunch of kid oriented ones. Of course I'm biased toward Noah's Ark Animal Workshop - because it is kid oriented and different. Discovery Toys is great and so is Big Yellow Box.

Along the lines of something different, I like Gift Cans N More and Maddy Moo Creations!!smileys/smiley17.gif I have thought that Traveling Vineyard looks fun and is different. The Glass Bracelet is cool too - not your "normal" jewelry co.

Just search around here and other sites. Click on signature lines to check different companie out. Make your pros and cons list -- you'll find the right one for yousmileys/smiley2.gif

Good Luck!

Hi and welcome over to the party plan boards!! :) You will find alot of great companies, the hard part will be finding on you really want to be part of. There are all great in their own way, you know you want something kid related etc, as they have mentioned tons of those companies. I suggest talking with several reps from different companies you are interested in.

Ask them how they work their biz, on avg how many hours a week do they work on it etc. Then also write pros and cons about each biz you are looking into. Figure out your short term and long term goals and decide which of the companies you can do them with.

Best wishes! If interested in any of my biz's just pm me!

Hi! I just wanted to wish you all the best in your venture!! Debbie has already mentioned Discovery Toys to you and I can give you a personal testimonial on just how awesome of a Manager she is! As well as how awesome Discovery Toys products are. My 2 year old son absolutely loves them and I did a read-a-thon with a local early learning center and they absolutely fell in love. If you want to work with children and all the avenues that opens up for you, definitely give Debbie the chance to show you how Discovery Toys can be wonderful for your customers (children), for your children, for you and your family. They truly are amazing.

I am also with an up and coming jewelry company named Latasia. The perks are amazing and if you would like that avenue, feel free to PM me or email me at kkandrod@direcway.com for the details of how Latasia could be beneficial to you and your family. You can also get an overview of Latasia at www.latasia.com (http://www.latasia.com).

It sounds though like your heart is with working with families. If you go with what your heart tells you, you will be great. You have to find your IT and when you do, it's amazing what party plan can provide. I wish you all the best and will be saying a prayer that the best company be presented to you soon!!! Take care :-)

Hello

You have been giving ALOT of great suggestions, there are so many plans that are kid oriented - I orderd Big Yellow Box for Gifts for Christmas last year and all the kids loved the products - plus there are all those "Stuff the Animal" Businesses out right now - with a zillion different names I think those are all cute ideas. There are also some book ones(used some of these afew years back for gifts)- I support getting our children reading !

I went with mine because I LOVE the products, some are consumable which means repeat Business - plus they are all different, compliment each other and I canwork themtogether to create gifts sets and such - You gotta LOVE what you do!

Best of luck to you a New Venture is always fun!

After reading your post and what you are looking, I would recommendthat youlook into The Big Yellow Box. It might be what you are.

It would be a great company to do fundraisers for daycares, schools and hospitals. I also believe that it is very beneficial for families to spend time together and making crafts together is a great way to do just that, plus there products are very unique and adorable too.

Hi Kallie~

You will have a HUGE variety to choose from! I am sure you will get lots of PM's to mull through as well!

Take your time and ask lots of questions! There are some companies out there that fit within your criteria~

Do you have more of a specific area of products you'd find interest in? A very valuable questions I like to ask (asking yourself) is does this look like product you would use all the time?

Check out sig lines and the individual company folders! And always ask LOTS of questions!

Good luck in your search! smileys/smiley17.gif

Hi Kallie,

I'm sure you've received a ton of responses to your post. I'm with a company that's not related to kids other than the opportunity to stay at home with themsmileys/smiley17.gif, but thought I'd give you my 2 cents. I truly believe you should find a company with products you love, and that you should put everything you have into one company. The money isn't in the sales, it's in the team building. You can do 3 shows per week and earn the same as doing 1 show per week with a small downline. I think it's important to build your team and earn that residual income that will always be there whether you work one night a week or 3 nights a week.

I think you're smart to go into the party plan line. It's the perfect biz for a mom who's trying to stay at home, but still wants a "time out" without being mom 24/7. Here is a list of some questions you should ask before making a final decision:

1. What is the commission % and what is the company show average? These 2 question belong together because... A company might offer 50% commission, but their show average is only $250. Another company might offer 25% commission with a $500 show average (both companies average $125 commission per show) Don't be fooled by a higher % rate!

2. Do you have to carry inventory or make deliveries? (It's up to you whether you want to do either of these)

3. Does the company have a good host program and do they pay for host benefits? (some companies do not pay for them, you do)

4. How much is the starter kit and do they have a starter program to help you earn free products to add to your kit?

5. Do you have to purchase catalogs, etc., or does the company offer any kind of business credit? If they don't, how much are the catalogs (these vary from a few cents to several dollars)

6. Does the company provide a personal website for your customers, and how much does it cost?

7. How will you submit orders (paperwork, computer program, online workstation, etc.)

8. Is there a minimum monthly quota, or do you have to pay a yearly subscription fee?

9. Does the person you're signing up with offer great training?

10. If it's a new company, what kind of financial backing do they have and is the company starting off strong? (Lots of companies are popping up everyday, and not all of them are making it)

11. If you plan on focusing on team building, what are the overrides (VERY IMPORTANT!!!). This could be your retirement... would you rather receive 3%... or 10% on every dollar your team sells?

Can anyone think of anything else?

Good luck finding your niche! I'd love to hear what your final decision is.

Devon

Hi! What we sell at Brown Bag Party can't be found at your local Wal-Mart! Thats for sure. I picked this company for the generous commision rate, 50% right from the start!! No inventory requirements, (which is great because I dont want to be packaging and delivering merchandise!! )Everything is shipped to the hostess or customer. Generous hostess rewards,$400 car bonus, sell from your company website, Plus the best part is we have $50. off when you sign up in March!!!! Look atthe company site and let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Kallie:<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Southern Living At HOME is more of a person-to-person direct sales company. We believe in building relationships with our customers and hostesses. They become our best friends and usually we sponsor them to become successful consultants like us.

I am a party coach, sponsor and trainer and supply products that make people feel warm and welcome. I love that I give away shopping sprees with my catalog. I love that I can sit down with 10 girls, eat cake, drink wine and go home with $150 in my pocket that’s mine to keep!

I love that our company treats you like family and all of our consultants are our sisters and brothers and that we bring the #1 style magazine to life in homes across America.

I know this may sound cheesy, but with our company, it’s so simple it’s hard to keep it that way. We’re always trying to re-invent the wheel, forgetting that it was already tested, corrected and perfected for us to use as is.

I know that home décor is available in Wal-mart, but it’s the environment of where our customers purchase products that’s appealing to others. With our parties, people have a fun night out, relax, eat and drink, shop and have fun from the comfort of someone’s home. It’s about hospitality and the spirit of generosity.

I hope you find what’ you’re looking for and if you’d like to receive more information about our opportunity, please feel free to contact me.

Sinerely,

Henna
