Hi everyone! I was just wondering if anyone works during the day while their kids are home? I have a very active 4 year old daughter. She's been pretty good while I'm training, but occasionally she'll come over and say 'Mommy I need .....' If you do work during the day how do you get around that kind of stuff?

Hi,

I have a very active 3 year old and a 5 month old. I tried to work with them awake and it was way too stressful. You could lose your job. So, what I do is work the late night shift 11pm til 4am sometimes later, depending on the hours available. But that is the only way to work without being disturbed. Hope it works out. But with a 4 year old, and having distractions will make you lose your job.

Thanks,
Lisa

My son is 2 1/2 now. I started with west when when he turned one. He is great when I'm working. I put up a baby gate at his door so that he stays in his room but I can still hear him playing in there. I only work 2 hours at a time and he does really well. There have been occasions that he needed me and he just hung over the gate and yelled "mamma" lol... I knew it was time for a break. You just have to figure out a routine that works for you and your kids. Some people work during naps or only when another adult is home.

yeah ur gonna have to either get him to play in his room and be a lil more self reliant hes four he can do that..or work the late shift when he is asleep. When my kids were home for the summer my youngest was 5 i put a sign on my door they knew what that meant and didnt bother me.

It is so hard to focus with a little one around. I think everyone gave you great advice. Take a deep breath, and explain to your daughter that Mommy needs to work. Kids understand more than we think, and are able to respect our limits.
it would be great if you had a neighbor with a child around your daughter's age so that you could trade baby-sitting time. At 4, kids need the company and they play well with others.
Good luck!

You can try noise cancellation headsets. I used them when I used to work on the phone. My son is 3 now and I only do non phone now. I would be so nervous about the customers hearing him through the headset. Boom is a good headset, but mine sounded low to the customer.
