View Full Version : Ready to sign, but with which consultant?!

I was a consultant about 3 years ago and let my sales lapse, and lost my business. I am a different person now, and I am ready to re-start my BeautiControl business. However, I have a dilemma. I just moved to a new town about 10 months ago, and -believe it or not- there are NO BC Consultants in my town of about 120,000 people!! The consultant that I signed up under the 1st time lives in another state, about 10 hours away. When I signed up under her the 1st time, I lived far away from her then, too. She contacted me a few weeks ago about a sale she was having, and that's what got me started thinking about doing it again. Ever since then, she's been in close contact with me about all the details for new consultants. Here's where my wrench gets thrown in. When I moved here, I looked on the BC website for a nearby consultant, and a consultant who lives about an hour away contacted me. We have talked on the phone a little bit, and she is aware that I was thinking of being a consultant again, but this was before my 1st BC consultant contacted me. I feel like I should sign up under my 1st consultant, she had become a great encouragement to me when I did it the first time. I value her friendship. However, I can't go to meetings halfway across the country!! I also don't want to approach BC consultant #2 and say, "Hey, I signed up under someone else, but can I come to your meetings?" What should I do?? The first time I sold BC, I tried to go to a few meetings in my area with another group, and they didn't act like they were too hip on me being there. After all, I wasn't making them money! Help!

I see your screen name is pastors wife ~ just like it's important to fina a church that is just the right "fit" for you, the same is true for choosing your recruiter. Do not make the decision out of obligation, but from a perspective of who will provide the most support for you, whether near or far. Most teams are very open to having other consultants participate in their meetings. I always feel like it is a blessing when consultants from other teams are able to participate in my meetings. If you had a great experience of support with your first recruiter and she has made the effort to maintain the relationship and the connection to you, I would probably sign up with her.

We welcome girls from other groups in ours, and try to help them along! You need that support!:)

Especially since you have already signed up once in the past, I think it is okay to go with a new person. I always move frequently too, so I'll be joining whichever group is in my local area. I think most consultants will welcome you no matter who signed you up.

Thanks for the advice! It's good to know that there are people like you out there! How do you think I should go about finding a group? I was thinking BeautiU would probably be the easiest way.

I too am a second timer to BC. The first time around I was in your shoes. My recruit the first time around was 4 hrs away and our director was 13 hrs away, but I wanted to attend meetings, so I asked my director if she knew of any directors in my area, and we found 1 about an hour away, which isn't too bad. She was very nice and welcoming. She is actually an adoptee her self. Unfortunately, things in my life got crazy and I was at a place where I couldn't do anything BC, so I was dumb and let my consultantship go.
I am fortunate that this time when I joined back up that I aligned myself with a director that is closer than 13hrs away, and with the National team I wanted to be a part of.
I agree with SpaSherri, you need to find the right fit for you. I was uncomfortable the first time around going to another groups meetings, even know they were 110% welcoming. It was just a personal thing for me. But now I am with my own family and I feel fine. I don't feel guilty when I win prizes, like I did with my previous group. That was just my mindset at the time too.
Whichever decision you make, will be the right one, if you follow your gut. Congrats on spreading the BC name in your new area!

Thanks for all the feedback! I ended up going w/ my original recruiter. I talked to the more local consultant on the phone, and let's just say I'm really glad I signed up with my original recruiter! I ordered my case, and it shipped today! Woo hoo!

Congrats PrairiePastorsWife!! I too am a pastor's wife. I have been a consultant for almost 4 years and I am just now (after moving to a new area) beginning to do bc as a business. Being a pastor's wife adds to the challenges some, but I also see BC as a great opportunity to minister to women and love on them in a way that may open doors to invest in them spiritually. I think you'll find a lot of support here!
Like you, I am also far from my director/recruiter and have not found a unit that meets at all in my new town. I have decided that it is up to me! My director has told me over and over "You know what to do, you don't need a unit meeting! " I will have to create the unit and the support and by doing that I will be able to grow my business to where I want it to be. I try to connect with my director by phone to learn about the new products at the beginning of the month. Otherwise it is just about getting out there and spa-ing! I also listen to a conference call on a regular basis for fresh ideas and reminders. If you are looking for it, you will find the support you need without even leaving your house.
God bless you in your new(renew) adventure! Let me know if you need anything!

I'm so glad there are other's out there that look at this as a ministry!!! So often we forget that, and I've been pleased with the stand this company has taken on its consultants personal testimony's.
