I just created a Yahoo! group for both of my businesses combined so my customers and anyone else can stay current on specials and things. It's not a message board that's going to get overrun with all kinds of stuff, just a way for me to let them know what's happening.
My question is, anyone know how to advertise for it? I sent an email to all of my customers, friends and family, but am wondering if there's another good way to let people know about it. Ideas??

Can you put a link on your website? Add it at the closing of all your emails? Include the link on invoices/shipping info?
Are you trying to target new customers, or get your existing customers on the group?

When every you do a party, offer this great resource! Whenever you do an event, offer this great resource! Whenever anyone contacts you, ask them if they'd like to take advantage of this great resource! :-)

I also run a few Yahoo Groups. I run one for my Bittersweet Team (http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/MyBittersweetCandles) and one for my Bittersweet Customers (http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/BittersweetCandleUSA).
I run a few others related to direct sales (consultantdiscount, consultantdiscount_2, consultant_finder, consultantcheck and directsalesraffles).
Most of my members on the non-team groups are through word of mouth. I also send out some personal invites for my direct sales groups if I knew we are looking for people from certain companies.
I love Yahoo and have found many customers, team members and friends through them!
