Hello all,

The reason I am posting is that I have been considering getting into a candle business to go hand-in-hand with the company I sell with now. I feel that the two would be a great match and cater to the same type demographic.

I used to sell PartyLite years ago, I did not have the best experience. My Unit Leader was so busy trying to keep her levels up that she didn't have time for her downline. I had good sales and enjoyed what I was doing, but without that support, I was going it alone essentially. The only time she ever called me was to harass me that I had to book more parties and promote out faster. When I would try to call her, she never had time to help me.

I am looking for a company with minimal start-up, no/low minimum sales quotas, and if you do decide to have a downline, no astronomical monthly quotas you have to meet in addition to having your downline meet astronomical quotas (whew, lol).

I am only really familliar with PartyLite as a direct sales company for candles, so if anyone has any samples in addition to info, it would be appreciated. I would hate to join a company without experiencing the product first.

Boy, was that windy, LOL!!!!!!!!

TIA,
Stephanie

Hey Stephanie!

I'm sorry to hear that you had a rough time with your past candle experience. That is hard when people revolve their worlds around themselves. In Scentsy we would call that having "your arrows in" instead of helping others succeed "arrows out".

Scentsy is a wonderful company to work with. The quotas are realistic ($150 every three months) to stay an active consultant.

I am going to pm you some info!

Hi,

I too was with Partylite and while I was successful in booking shows, selling and sponsoring (I evened earned their incentive trip last year), I felt the same frustration you did. Even though I was having sales success, I was not happy. I was stressed out due to high leadership monthly minimums, high sales/booking pressure tatics from my leader and constantly having to buy new products for my display tables.

So I talked to my good online friend Alethea Anderson (who is also here on WAHM) and we started talking about her candle business. Since I started selling candles earlier this year, I realized there is a huge market for high quality candles and I after asking a million questions, I realized that my current candle business is really an amazing company that offers everything I want.

I am a firm beliver in choices...choices on how to run your business. Since many of us work this right alongside our families, there are months when we can spend lots of time on it, and other months when we choose to focus more on family or other activities. As a mom of 3 young children who is very involved in her community...this was important to me.

You choose how to run your business...home parties, book parties, retail sales, fairs and festivals, fundraisers, team building...it's your choice and as a leader...it's my job to support you and guide you in whatever choice you make. With this company, I can support you no matter if you just want to be a candle of the month customer or if you want to full fledge candle business.

I invite you to visit my website and see what we are all about. Feel free to contact me via phone, email or web anytime. I love sharing what we have to offer.

Hi Stephanie,

I PM'd information on SoyLicious.com for you to look over too.

Basically, with SoyLicious you have no quotas, just the $29.95 a month (plus shipping), in which you receive approximately $45 worth of full-size, re-sellable products in addition to your own company website, online back office and Online Candle Store, along with access to our company forum as well as our team's website.

As a consultant with SoyLicious, you'd be earning 40% commissions on all your sales, and you have the opportunity to build a team and earn residual income as well.

I wish you all the best in whatever company you choose :)

Stephanie,

There are definately lots of options now to choose from. One of the other newcomers on the market it For Every Home.

They have been out 2 years but are part of a parent company that has been out 12, and we are debt free.

Our product line is soy bases and quite varied. We offer candles, cubes, warmers, room sprays, odor eliminating gels and even some home decor.

The cost is minimal to join, only $79.99. This includes your website, 25 of the most popular scents, full size products, catalogs and receipts.

We have no minimums and you are not required to build a downline. You actually make pretty great money if you just want to sell, 25%-35% of all retail sales. We even have a fundraiser program that you can offer to your customers that pays 51%.

Because we are new, most states have less then 10 consultants per state but I assure you we have a very sold training base. The company offers 2 sponsored calls a week, I do one myself for my team once a week as well. Plus, I prefer not to work solely via email and I am in constant contact with my downline. (Some may say too much!)

Gold Canyon Candles - You can start for $20, or you can buy a kit and earn it free (get a rebate on the first payment, and not pay the other two). The bigger kit ends up around $150 if you are not able to earn it free.

The only quota is a quarterly one of $450 to keep your 25% commission level. If you do not make it, you drop to 15%, but you can get back to 25 when you do 450 within the quarter.

There are no team quotas in Gold Canyon, the only one that exists is that to get paid on your downline sales, you have to do $450 in that month.

If you have any other questions, please contact me.

Hey everyone,
Thanks so much for your responses. So far, I have received PM responses from Sentsy, MiaBella, Gold Coast, SoyLicious and For Every Home. I appreciate these, and will be getting back to you all in further detail.

For those of you who were asked what my other WHAM business is, you can check it out at www.privatequarters.net/stephaniethurin. We sell luxury linens, featherbeds, down pillows, robes, towels, etc., and specialize in the "Seven Layers of Bliss" for your bed.

If anyone knows of any others candle companies, please let me know. Feel free to PM me with more info on your company (SPAM me, LOL). This is something I am genuinely interested in, and want to make the best choice. Start-up or established doesn't matter. A good product with a good value will sell.

Thanks,
Stephanie

Soylicious is a great new company. We have a low cost autoship program that is under $40 a month after shipping and there are 3 different options that you can choose from for you monthly shipment. Our candles are made from soybean wax that is grown right in the US. There are no quotas to meet if you recruit either. And no sales quotas to meet ever! We are adding new products all the time and since it is a new company there is still lots of room for growth. You can visit my website at https://www.soylicious.com/michelleridenour. If you want to learn more I would love to send you some more information and some free samples as well.

Combine a Gold Rush America Party with your candle parties and make lots more money!! Picture this....we send a technician to your party. Guests arrive with their broken or unwanted gold items. The tech tests it and pays them cash on the spot...they in turn, take the "free" cash and spend it on more of your products. Plus YOU earn 10% cash as the hostess even if you have a different hostess for the candle party. This method has proven very successful with me. If you are interested in finding out more please contact me at mfriday@thomas.k12.ga.us Id love to talk to you ***keep in mind these gold parties can be done as a stand alone. Hostess make 10% of all cash paid out at party, guests and hostess are paid cash on the spot...PLUS hostess earns 5% off of each party booked as a result of hers.

Hello everyone,

Just to let you know, I have made the decision to go with Luminarias. Their candles are really great, with a great scent-throw and and even burn, and the ground-floor opportunity is appealing. I am REALLY excited about it.

Thanks to Jolene from Soylicious for sending me a sampler :), and a very big thanks to Melissa A., who sent me a very nice scent package from MiaBella. She really went above and beyond! If you are considering MiaBella, you should really contact her (mandm'smommy), she is a great gal! Everyone else who said they were going to send ever did :(. Oh well, I really feel like I have made the right decision.

If anyone is interested in Luminarias, please feel free to PM me, as I would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have!

Thanks to everyone,
Stephanie

Congrats on choosing a company. Awesome choice! I'm so excited to see so many people joining Michelle's company. I've been keeping up with her for a couple of years and was so excited to see her come back with an even stronger rep program. I'm trying to get a trip to San Antonio scheduled so I can meet her in person.

(Laura, did you make your own banner?)

Good luck!

Laura,

I received Twilight. It smells soooo good :D!!!!! Lavender isn't usually my thing, but OMG!

Maybe we all should request a Luminarias folder since there are several consultants on here? Something to think about to get the word out more!

missyroth
03-27-2010, 08:36 PM
Same here, Stephanie. It has to be the best lavender I've ever smelled. The same goes for the Huckleberry scent (don't recall the complete name right now). It's blueberry scented and I typically don't like those. I won't mind burning that one at all.

My favorites are My Little Buttercup (again, not a vanilla fan...I don't know what Michelle does to make her candles smell so good!), Lovebirds, Twilight, and Nickel Lemonade. Oh, and Rodeo.

I hope you all enjoy them!

Missy - I'm so jealous. I would love to be so close.

Stephanie - The folder idea sounds great. We should pm the Mod.

I have Twilight and Nickel Lemonade on my list of "wants" and now
thanks to Missy I've added My Little Buttercup. ;)
