Hi, I'm new both to SS/MB and to this forum. I've been reading some of the past posts just to catch up. Seems like a great group of encouraging, entrepreneurial women, and I'm looking forward to being an active participant here.

Diane Mumm started a new thread asking how you all were working your MB business. I noticed that several of you responded that you primarily build your business online. I would dearly love to hear from those of you who have opted to go this route. Can you outline the steps for how to get started doing that?

Do you need to be particularly computer savvy? How much of a knowledge of Web 2.0 is necessary, if any? Do you blog? Tweet? buy leads? How do you "advertise" online? Pay Per Click, or Google rankings or keyword marketing?

Do you do social networking, like with a FaceBook page?

See, I have so many questions--and so few answers!

Greetings Charlotte,

There are many, many ways to market online! I've been a web marketer since for about a decade and I specialize in building websites as well as search engine optimization and marketing for zero dollars. What I teach is the way to do it on a shoe string budget.

I used to own a bath and body business (sold a few years ago) and I got my roots in internet marketing then, which I then shifted to my Mia Bella business in 2004. I am self taught, it is very rewarding and a lot of fun!

In the beginning it can be quite time consuming, as you have to absorb and learn a lot, but those who power through it and keep moving forward will experience great success.

Much of it depends on what you wish to accomplish. To be seen? To brand yourself across the web? Sales? Team members? There are many factors to take into account, and many ways to tackle it.

Your first step would be to contact your upline and/or upline director to see if they have any specific training and/or recommendations in place. Each person teaches online marketing differently and does it differently as well, and there may be a system in place for you already to make it easier :)

I started working from home in 2002.. I'm a ex preschool teacher of
12 years and I knew nothing about Internet Marketing, Building Websites,
Search Engine Optimization and all that stuff.. I learned all I could about
this and being consistent and working on my business daily has been very
rewarding.. In the beginning it is very time consuming..

Like Alethea said you should contact your upline or upline director to see if
they have any specific training or recommendations in place.

Have fun and enjoy your business...

Teresa Turner :)

I agree with what has been said here. I also have been online for several years and love it. I knew nothing about any of it, but jumped in and learned as I went along. (and continue to learn everyday)

I would first work with your upline for support and training. My next suggestion would be to start reading and educating yourself. Pick one area to focus on and learn all you can.

Good luck!

Thanks ladies...the biggest part of any business is being consistant :-)

People often ask me how I've been able to do "xyz" and my response is always, I CONSISTANTLY work on it, ALL THE TIME! It's not magic, it's not a special potion or anything special. It's just about being consistant.

And I also don't mean I spend 10 -12 hours a day working on it, but rather that I work on my business a little everyday. Some days I have 15 minutes, others I have 3 - 4 hours. But whatever time I do have, I have a plan and work the plan.

I love this business. I love this industry. Anyone can be successful as long as they are willing to consistantly work it.

Keep working ladies and we'll all be at the top!

First and foremost get a website, start a blog, get a splash page with autoresponder.

Read all the material you can on online marketing from the guru's, when you feel confident at that point join social networks like

Facebook,
Twitter,
Ning groups,

Comment on other's blogs ETC.

That should get you started, than ask your upline for advice, next steps are a little more involved, such as getting backlinks, and learning SEO.

Congratulations, Louann!

I haven't started with the blogs and social networking aspects yet, but I know I need to get on board soon. Lots to learn...
