What do you all think of the BC Mineral Makeup versus Bare Minerals.
I have not tried either. I'm still debating. I'm a BC Consultant, so I want to support BC, but I feel like mineral makeup and makeup in general is not their priority. I think BC's priority is skin care and I think their skin care is the best.
However, with makeup it really seems like Bare Minerals is top of the line.

I haven't used BC's but I've heard of many people switching from Bare to BC's because they liked it much better. Skincare might be BC's strongsuit, but I think they try to go top quality with everything, including makeup.

Everyone that tries our make up falls in love with it and can not beleive how reasonable the prices are too.
I am not an expert on Bare Minerals, but the phrase that pops into my mind about Bare minerals and many other companies is "Beware when the "story of the product" is what they are selling or promoting more than the actual product and it's results." Gary has said this in workshops before.
When you hear other companies promote, "It's more helathy" "Made in Swiss Labs" "All Natural" and other claims about how the product is made versus what it does, to me it just means that the strength of what the product does is not strong enough to stand alone.

I love love love the mineral eyeshadows and blushes!! I am not sold on the mineral lipstick though, but I am not a huge lipstick fan in general. I am a gloss girl 110%. I do not like the mineral foundation both from BC and from other companies. The color doesn't always stay true through out the day and mineral foundations will clog your pores no matter what they claim. If you are going to choose a BC foundation, which I recommend promoting the product, I would recommend the wet/dry I LOVE it! I am a huge foundation snob. I have tried many out there in the world of makeup and there have only been 3 types that I could use, and BCs is by far the best of the 3!
Hope this helps!

I have not tried Bare Minerals, but LOVE BC mineral eye shadow and blush. I agree with EVERYTHING Tara said...I prefer wet/dry, gloss over lipstick, etc. But the eye shadow and blush are awesome!

I also haven't tried Bare Minerals, but fully support the BC mineral makeup line. I use it, and also have customers who love it.
I think you should at least give it a shot, especially being a Consultant, at least then you can speak to your personal experience with the items when a customer asks questions. And...you get a discount to try it out anyway!
One other thing that Gary mentioned... if you use a mineral powder, or any mineral makeup for that matter, you should use some kind of clay mask on a regular basis. This will help to draw out any of the minerals that may have clogged your pores. Just a good thing to think of to tell your mineral makeup customers.
Good luck!

I have tried the bare minerals in the past, was very surprised that they tout it is good for sensititve skin users because it contains bismuth oxychloride which gives it the sheen look, but is very irritating. I could not wear it. It felt like someone had taken sandpaper and scraped my skin with it. I was told bismuth oxychloride is a by product of arsenic and even if you lift the sticker off the bottom of the containers, it had a warning label with skull and crossbones, no kidding. This was three or four years ago,so things may have changed since then.
I have tried BC mineral line and am not as irritated with it. On their labels it says MAY contain bismuth oxychloride among some other ingredients. So... I really do not know if in fact that this ingredient is in there or not.
I agree, the mineral line doesn't seem to be their main focus. I don't really know what their focus is becoming...I just read on these boards they may be going back to image consulting with the fabric color swatches. Do they seem kind of all over the place, or is it me?

Indy girl, I don't think BC is all over the place. I think the Image consulting is coming from women who have been with BC for a long time and have had the specific training for that. It sounds to me like they are training their individual units on image consulting, but even that is more of a simplified version to what was done in the past. BC continues to focus on high quality skincare and spa treatments, as well as meeting the make up trends with the best products in the mineral line. No make up isn't their first priority, but prior to creating the mineral line everyone was asking for it, so that is what they gave us. My favorite is still the Wet/Dry!! It just can't be beat - especially for sensitive skin!

I was thinking it must have been just the individual units doing the image thing because I have not heard anything "official" from BC stating that was what we are going to be doing-yet.
I am glad that they do listen at BC to what the consultants are saying their customers want, that's for sure. Even though The mineral line might not be for everyone, they do have alternatives, like I use the secret agent in the tube and I love it and I am glad to hear that skin care and spa treatments will be their main overall focus. I have heard other consultants say that the money is in the face, so adding more color items to the line is exciting as well. ( I haven't tried the wet/dry) so I will have to try that! Thanks for the tip and the input, makes me feel better! :)

I am pretty sure the image thing we were talking about is something that just Lynn is doing with her Directors.

Thank you so much, everyone, for your replies. I am going to try the mineral makeup first and will have my sister in law (who loves bare minerals) try it too. I think for spas, I will just have some wet/dry foundation and mineral foundation on hand for demos.
I do think the main focus for BC is #1 skincare, #2 at-home spa products and that is why I joined. I think BC's skincare is AWESOME!!! I see us getting products first and then I see other companies trying to keep up. I really think BC is the leader in great skincare in the USA.
As I'm getting a little older, I am becoming more interested in makeup, so that is why I was wondering about BC's mineral line.
