View Full Version : Rejuv Creme - Mold?

I hate to post this topic because I am overjoyed about A*****'s products. But I have to ask this question because it puzzled me. I have been very pleased (actually excited) about all of products and the results I've seen first hand and will continue to stand behind this company. Here we go:

I went to use my rejuvenating creme last week (I opened it originally back in October) - and first noticed that I had not replaced the cap tight enough (I must add here that this is a product I don't use very often - just don't need to use it all the time.) When I opened it there was a thick layer of mold on top. It seemed to come from the protective cover that is built into the cap (the cardboard type paper thing) and spread to the product. It almost looked as if the cover had gotten wet at one point - but I don't recall that happening. Needless to say I threw it out - but I've been wondering ever since if anyone has had this happen to them. How long is the Rejuv Creme good for?

It looks like it was just exposed to something due to my neglect...that's what I amthinking because this has never happened. I'm very curious about your thoughts as this raised a question about preservatives and the shelf life of our products once they've been opened.

Thanks everyone!Edited by: YumsMommy

Yes, not specifically with the Rejuv cream, but with other products - especially those that are kept in the bathroom. The company uses the least amount of preservatives possible, so the products do expire and can go bad (as you found out).

I was perusing some locally-made fruit oil products that were on display in our pharmacy and the ingredients were not identical, but similar to A's products ... fruit oil based, natural ingredients, very low preservatives.

Anyway, the pharmacist told me that they should be stored in the refridgerator. I thought, "that would be pretty inconvenient</span>" but I see her point (after having to throw away several of my own products). If I'm going to invest in exceptional skin care, I might want to store them in the fridge vs keeping them in a hot, humid environment that promotes the growth of mold and bacteria.

I still haven't, though. LOL Maybe I would if my bathroom were on the same level as my fridge. smileys/smiley2.gif Still, it's something to consider.

I had a customer have mold grow in her moisturizer from teh basic set. It comes in the same type of container. I didn't think about that cardboard thing, I ended up just getting her another one at no charge to keep her happy. I will suggest that she take out the cardboard thing. I did tell her about the low amount of preservative.

I would be heartbroken if my $31 rejuv. cream grew mold!!!

I always takethe cardboard out!It just seems like a breeding ground for bacteria to me!! With the jars you must make sure your hands are clean! Since the products have such little amounts of preservativesI can see how this could easily happen. I use a spatula for all my creams that come in a jar. Thank goodness I have never had this problem or any of my clientsor consultants on my team!

Call and see if they will replace it for you. I think I remember someone on here posting that they were able to return a product after the 45 day time frame.

This happened to me with my moisture cream awhile back. I just returned
it to the company and they replaced it. But do also remember to tell
your clients to access the product with a spatula because of the low
preservatives in the product, dipping in with your fingers would not
help matters! I think it is a testamonial that proves the product is
not full of nasty preservatives!

I had the same thing happen with my rejuv cream. I remove the cardboard insert. Makes a big difference. It just goes to show how little preservatives Arbonne uses. Which it a good thing!

This happened to me with my basics facial scrub, which I love. I
hadn't used it for a while though. I did toss it out and replace it,
but would never stop using it!
