View Full Version : What sound brings a smile to your face?

Leaving financial answers aside ;) (I mean we all want to hear a tv host saying "congratulations you have just won $1 million dollars") What sounds never fail to put a perk in your step? Here are my top 3;
1. My 4 year old daughter laughing.
2. Hearing a U2 tune on the radio.
3. Hearing the weatherman / weathergirl say "and we can expect fine weather for the coming week"

Actually I just heard it this past week and it has brought a smile to my face every morning. It's the sound of birds chirping outside my window. It means Spring is coming and the temperatures are getting warmer. Yay!

Joshua Tree's response made me laugh out loud...with a smile. :) I have faithfully submitted entries to Publisher's Clearing House for as long as I can remember and continue to wait for that knock on the door stating "You've Won 5,000.000 a Week for Life" lol
Our grandson's sweet voice on the answer phone saying "Hi Nana, it's your sunshine" brings a grin and melts my heart faster than most anything.

Cleary from all of the answers we all get the most joy from our children. That's why we're here (in this forum that is!) What makes me smile?
The uncontrollable laughter from my three year old, and watching him dance.
When I say "no" to one of my six year old's many requests and his response is "Okay, mom"...now that I love!

The sound of my kids laughing hard. Especially my 2nd boy. He laughs so hard that he has a hard time keeping it in and will crack up minutes later. It is hilarious! I love to hear my oldest goof off with his friends. My two younger kids being nice to each other and when my 2 year old is "mommy" to the 1 year old. lol He is so cute. I also love it when my 8 year old son hugs me and gives me a kiss. He thinks he is too big for that already. He also makes me smile when he says he wants it to be just me and him like it was before he went to kindergarten. :)

Oh Deb... I sooooooooooo can appreciate that!
When I lived in MN, we had terrific thunderstorms at night. I had a log house there... and I loved the sound of rain on that rooftop. Man, I miss that.
Here in Colorado, night rains are downright RARE. Like ... really.... I only remember one in the 10+ years I've lived here. We get these torrential rains in the afternoon - but never a "shebang" kind of storm at night.

Since I grew up on a farm, whenever I hear the sound of a cow bawling in the distance brings a smile to my face. I have some very fond memories of spending time on our farm and my grandparents farm. My grandfather could drive through his farm in his old beat up pickup truck, blow the horn, and his cows would begin to come through the pasture. At this time, as kids we would stand in the back of the truck and "count cows", just to make sure that they were all there & well.

I am a musician at heart and my profession is in music education. I have recently been listening to the music of Anton Bruckner. His symphonies have a depth that no other composer can mimic - except Richard Wagner of course. Even then Bruckner is totally unique. He transforms the orchestra into a huge organ full of several colors and fills the listener with a feeling of heroic-ism.

Since moving from our house in the country to a more "city" area, I miss all the trees and woods behind our house that were just full of wildlife and such a variety of birds. What a joy it is to hear the birds singing outside my window every morning making me think that I'm not that far from the country :)

Flowing water... Waterfalls, white water rivers, rushing streams. Somehow, all the difficulties and challenges in my life melt away from the sound, and a soft smile appears on my face.

The rain... doesn't matter where it is or when, but I always feel at peace when I hear the rain. (even in a storm actually ^^;; )
And my ringtone apparently. The Melody (Lacie) is just so beautiful that if it plays at a certain timing when I read a novel or something, I feel my heart skip a couple of beats. XDD
